This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Francis Lopez 81 years old , born on March 12, 1937 and passed away on February 20, 2019. We will remember him forever.

Please feel free to leave a comment below or a story in the story section of you wish. Thank you

Francis lived a very eventful life and did not waste any of the years given to him. He did the best he could and tried to make things right. He was a man that was logical not overly emotional and did not suffer fools lightly. He reconnected and got to spend time with most of his great grandchildren in the last year of his life. He leaves behind from eldest to youngest Isaiah, Tristan, Kyle, Nigel, Elijah, Cameron, Remi ,his only great granddaughter (the eldest of the twins) and Ryan her brother

We hope he reconnects with Nathanial who passed at 7 weeks of SIDS in April 2006 (middle brother between Tristan and Elijah)

He leaves behind his children Tanya and Gary (Karl) and grandchildren Christopher, Katherine, Deborah and Amanda.

Francis was the 6th of 7 children and preceded by Gloria, Andre, Noel, Carlos the youngest. We hope and pray they are meeting up and celebrating in heaven.

Francis leaves behind his eldest sister our beloved Yvonne and his youngest sister our beloved Mercia and numerous nieces Jacqueline, Maureen (his goddaughter), Elizabeth, Rosemarie, Susan, and Bridget and nephew Andre

Francis also would like not to forget his cousin Patrick Lopez's youngest children Kayla and Patrick who he worried about when Pat passed.

Francis worked on the Family Tree with his cousin Kay with great pride during the last years of his life.

His other love and interest had been the many sporting accomplishments of St George's College in Jamaica and collected a lot of information which will be on displayed at his memorial.

Francis loved his plants and took great pride in his garden.

Thank you for accessing this page to share the years of Francis Edward David Lopez

The Lopez family were my neighbours in Jamaica. They were fun loving social fellows along with Yvonne the daughter. They lived on 9 acres of land adjoining my house at 4 Mayfair Ave. My 3 children went to Sts Peter and Paul School on Hope Road and the kids walked down Hope Road and pass their large property to walk around to no 4,Mayfair, It was along walk round. Carlos cut a gate in our fence so the kids could walk through their property and enter our yard and by so doing save them the long walk round to Mayfair Ave. I always remembered and appreciated that kind gesture of the boys. Also on Sunday mornings after mass they would set up a wicket under the Mango Tree near the gate in the fence and I would go over and bat at the wicket which was drinking Rum at a table set up under the mango tree. I remember the boys were all good cooks and cooked great stakes so one Christmas I put on a party for all my political friends from the Ministry of Housing including the then Minister of Housing Clem Tavares and he had two of the great stakes.God bless the Lopez family they were good people. I remember their Father had the Wrights Grocery at 12 Hope Road in Cross Roads and my Mother used to buy malted milk there for us. I still remember how I loved that Malted Milk from Wrights Grocery. God Bless

Uncle Francis. I first met you and Uncle Pat when I was only 6 or 7. It’s been so many years the memories have faded. But what hasn’t faded is the way you made me feel each time Dad took us to visit you on Old Hope Road. You always had a smile for us and we felt happy when we knew we would visit. As kids we caught fish in the pond that ran near to your house. We were so young it seemed like a huge ocean, but it was only a tiny stream. You helped us make happy memories as kids and that’s really the best gift you can give a person. That and love. We love you. Forever in our hearts. ♥️

Last years of his life...

February 24, 2019

Francis moved to Welland Ontario November 2017 to live with me his daughter after losing his right leg to complications from Diabetis. He struggled with other issues- his kidneys and liver and besides being testy when in pain from his other foot he was upbeat and bossy as usual.  Francis directed us all from his bedside. His PSW brought him treats and listened as he directed them with his doctor without a degree Information. He was also accompanied to his doctor appointments by my daughter Katherine or my friends daughter Amanda. Katherine of course took him to the mall to shop for his forbidden treats occasionally. ( Some I found in his room still tied to a bag hanging from His bed bars. Sneaky to the end.

He called me and told me one day as I came home from a tough day at work he was doing some arrangements and wished me to remove a piece of furniture from his room that belonged to me as he had plans for that space. I quickly distracted him with a carrot muffin baked that morning which he swallowed with greed then informed me after all crumbs were licked It was stale and what else did I have for him.

He was upbeat and spend a few visits to the hospital over time and the last operation he removed his other foot. He was fully Intending to come home and we all expected him home for his birthday celebration on the 12 March 2019. His passing was sudden and unexpected He fought hard and with dignity and his young nurses cried for the man on the 3rd floor who they ate their lunches with on their own time listening to his stories and life advice.

  1. Francis will be cremated on the 25 February 2019 and his ashes will return home. We will celebrate his birthday with a cheerful memorial as promised on the 16 march place to be announced

I want to thank my support team

Physically- his PSW's especially Vicky and Eileen. His doctors especially Dr Rika, the CCAC who worked with us , the drivers who took him to his appointments, the ambulance drivers the firemen who helped the paramedics lift him, the hospital team at Welland and St Catherine's and Orilla Soldiers Memorial , my friend Amanda who got him ready for dyalisis along with the Psws and who received him after. My grandsons Nigel, Tristan and my daughter Kathy my support through this.  My Boyfriend Luc who assisted me and groomed my dad and made sure his TV and Music kept playing. Marcel his brother who assisted with his Television setups.

Mentally I would not have survived this without of family group chat Rosemarie, Bridget, Arrti ( friend for life) Maureen for her candles she lit for her god father each week and  Liz  who all prayed for Francis during it all. And most of all Mike Henry who was like a son to francis. I want to thank Mike, Paul and Kevin for visiting with Francis and advising me throughout this time. Mike, Paul and Kevin made numerous visits to Orilla Soldiers Hospital and Beverton while Francis was recovering. Also, thanks  to Kevin who visited Francis and privided support and essential barber services.

MRS CHEN thanks for visiting Daddy in Beaverton and feeding him your cow foot and beans one of his favourite meals. Everyone helped in a million ways....

THANK YOU ALL. AND I PRAY I HAVE FINALLY GOT EVERYONE

Happy Birthday DAD

March 12, 2023
To my Dad who is spending his 86th birthday in heaven
If tears could build a stairway,
and memories a lane.
I would walk right up to Heaven
and bring you back again.

No farewell words were spoken,
No time to say “Goodbye”.
You were gone before I knew it,
and only God knows why.

My heart still aches with sadness,
and secret tears still flow.
What it meant to love you –
No one can ever know.

But now I know you want me
to mourn for you no more;
To remember all the happy times
life still has much in store.

Since you’ll never be forgotten,
I pledge to you today
A hollowed place within my heart
is where you’ll always stay.
