The Lopez family were my neighbours in Jamaica. They were fun loving social fellows along with Yvonne the daughter. They lived on 9 acres of land adjoining my house at 4 Mayfair Ave. My 3 children went to Sts Peter and Paul School on Hope Road and the kids walked down Hope Road and pass their large property to walk around to no 4,Mayfair, It was along walk round. Carlos cut a gate in our fence so the kids could walk through their property and enter our yard and by so doing save them the long walk round to Mayfair Ave. I always remembered and appreciated that kind gesture of the boys. Also on Sunday mornings after mass they would set up a wicket under the Mango Tree near the gate in the fence and I would go over and bat at the wicket which was drinking Rum at a table set up under the mango tree. I remember the boys were all good cooks and cooked great stakes so one Christmas I put on a party for all my political friends from the Ministry of Housing including the then Minister of Housing Clem Tavares and he had two of the great stakes.God bless the Lopez family they were good people. I remember their Father had the Wrights Grocery at 12 Hope Road in Cross Roads and my Mother used to buy malted milk there for us. I still remember how I loved that Malted Milk from Wrights Grocery. God Bless
