For those who can take a sip, whether it be ice tea or a nice something on the rocks, let's honor one of our family's heroes. 30 yrs ago today, Uncle Frank arrested one of the most known serial killers in California history. What a great part of our families history, by a great great wonderful Uncle (man). Cheers everyone. LOVE YOU! HAPPY NEW YR!

July 17,1957 - February 19, 2021 Frank Arthur Orta, longtime resident of Riverside, CA, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021, at the age of 63. Frank was born in a small mining town in San Manuel, Arizona, Frank's family relocated to Riverside when he was three years old. Frank was preceded in death by his father Ruben D. Orta and mother Mary Lou Moreno of Riverside. Frank is survived by his stepfather of 60 years Reginaldo R. Moreno; daughter Meagen Orta and fiancee Honey Bernas, both of Riverside; brother Ruben & Janet Orta of Colorado; sister Ann Marie & Andy Melendrez of Riverside; sister Cecilia & Mitchell McCoy of Corona; 
Sister (Mary) Angel & Jose Luis Melendez of Riverside; brother Steven Moreno of Riverside; 16 nieces and nephews and countless grand nieces and nephews. Frank attended Queen of Angels Catholic School, Foothill Elementary, Wells Intermediate and graduated from Norte Vista High School in 1975. He also, attended Riverside Community College where he obtained an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Criminal Justice. Frank was hired with the City of Corona Police Department in 1979. He later laterally transfered to the Riverside Police Department for the remainder of his 31 year career. Frank was a recipient of the Riverside Police Department's Officer of the Year and Latino Peace Officers Association Officer of the Year awards, and received countless other awards and recognitions. Frank also was recognized by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the American Lung Association, the Wounded Warrior Project, and countless other charitable organizations. Frank's Celebration of Life will be held at The Grove Community Church in Orangecrest on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at 9:00 a.m.
