Skate Park Story

January 20, 2013

On June 16th 2006 Frank went to the skate park as he did every day.  He hung out with his friends and skated the bowls all day.  At about 6pm he was skating from the big bowl to the smaller one and didn't land right and fell.  He didn't have his helmet on as he normally did so when he fell he hit the back of his head.  The head injury was serious and was rushed to the hospital where he's family had been called.  The hospital in Port Angeles was unable to help him any further so they airlifted him to Harbor View in Seattle, the family followed.  After hours of testing and intensive care the family was faced with the decision of having to say good bye to their beloved Frank.  The following day on June 17th at 4pm the family said their last good byes and let him go.

This story is not only tragic and heart breaking for family and friends but it is a good reminder to all skateboarders in the world to be safe and use a helmet.

Frank in the begining

Frank

Frank Rocco Russo was born to Lisa Marie Laidlaw (Smith) on March 25th 1992.  He had an older brother Robert Anthony Taylor and a younger brother Zachary Michael Taylor-Armstrong.  He was raised in Port  Angeles, Washington where he played baseball, fishing and created his own stories and writings.  He loved his family and his family history and always wanted to learn more about where he came from.  His great grandfather was the World War II pilot Pappy  Boyington.  So needless to say while growing up he wanted to be just like him.  He studied and learned as much as he could about World War II.  You could show him pictures of airplanes or weapons and he could tell you the name, make and model.
As he grew older he found a new passion, skateboarding.  You could find him any day of the week skating from bowl to bowl at the Port Angeles Skate park.  His family and friends will remember him for his blue eyes, heartwarming smile and his contagious laughter.  He loved life and lived it to the fullest.

We will love and remember him for all these things, Frank Rocco Russo will live on in our heart forever.
