Retired Birmingham Police Sergeant Frank Edwin Walton Jr, age 81, entered through the Gates of Heaven on September 7, 2021 after passing away peacefully at his home in Hoover, Alabama following a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. 
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Sarah Mullen Walton and Frank Edwin Walton Sr, his brother in law Cecil "Shorty" England and his grandson Steven Matthew Walton Jr. 
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty Jo Shook Walton, sister Mary Catherine England, children Frank E Walton III (Bobbi), Catherine Walton Branch (Billy), Steven Matthew Walton Sr (Leisa).  He will be greatly missed by his loving grandchildren Porter Branch (Katlyn), Connor Branch (Breanne), Megan Walton (Ben), Brett Walton, Sarah Branch, Lexi Walton and great- grandchildren Mia and Mac Branch, as well as many extended family members and friends. 
Frank was born at home during a snowstorm on February 2, 1940 in Wylam, a small community on the west side of Birmingham, AL.  He attended St. Anthony's grammar school and graduated from John Carroll Catholic High School in 1959.  He was a starting running back and linebacker on his varsity football team and also excelled in a number of different track and field events. 
After graduating, he worked briefly with TCI and then became a Birmingham Police Officer in 1963.  He retired in 1985 after serving as a Motor Scout and then becoming a Sergeant with the Tactical Unit, K9 Unit and Business Service Detail. 
Throughout his adult life he enjoyed and became an outstanding golfer, setting the course record at Woodward Golf and Country Club shooting a 7 under par, 64 on September 18, 1992.
Frank was a lifetime member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, the only Church he has ever known. 
His Services will be held at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Birmingham (Wylam) AL on Monday, September 13 with visitation beginning at 11 AM and a  Funeral Mass at 12 PM.  The Mass will be said by Father Gray Bean, former Pastor at St. Stanislaus from 2005 - 2007.

As kids we would ride our bikes in front of Frank's house just to try and get his dog to jump the fence and chase us..just for fun..Sure miss those days.Rest In Peace
