WINCHESTER -- Francis A. "Frank" Chirico, 52, of Winchester, formerly of Lexington, passed away suddenly on February 28, 2013.

Frank was born in Leominster on October 26, 1960, the son of Giuseppe and Caterina (Maldari) Chirico. He was a 1978 graduate of Leominster High School, where he enjoyed intramural sports. Frank later graduated from Texas A&M University in 1982. He went on to receive his Masters Degree of Architecture from the University of Virginia. He worked as an architect in Boston for many years and recently was employed as an architectural consultant.

Frank was very talented and artistic, which he incorporated into his professional and personal life. He was a skilled lathe operator, finely crafting bowls and building furniture. He was well read and educated himself on various subjects. Frank loved to cook and create his own dishes, feeding friends and family.

Another passion of Frank's was cycling. He enjoyed the freeness of his bicycle, and riding in the Pan Mass Challenge for Dana Farber cancer research for several years.

He leaves his children, Noah Chirico of Gloucester and Anna Chirico of Brooklyn, NY; his parents, Giuseppe and Caterina (Maldari) Chirico of Lancaster; a sister, Lucia and her husband Richard Tahan Jr., of South Carolina; niece, Alexis Tahan of Manchester, NH.

CHIRICO -- The funeral Mass and Burial will be private at the request of the Chirico family. Brandon Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Road, Fitchburg is directing arrangements.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Francis A. Chirico to support cancer research and patient care at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284 or via www.dana-farber.org/gift.
