Franklin Alonzo Lane, 81, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 after a lengthy illness.

A native of Granville County, but lived most of his life in Person County, the son of the late Walter B and Ruth Mitchell Lane.  He was a former member of Grove Hill Methodist Church and member of Brooksdale United Methodist Church in Roxboro.  He was a devoted loving husband and father who cared dearly for his children, grandchildren and friends.  He had many fond memories of the Wilton community where he grew up with his church families and friends.  While living in Roxboro, he was a member of the Roxboro Exchange Club.  He was a kind hardworking and honorable man of faith who did his best to serve God and his community well.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, December 31, 2011 at Banks United Methodist Church by Rev. Cliff Wall.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.
 

Surviving are the mother of his children, Pat Cokewell of North Bend, Washington, a daughter, Nancy Lane of Chicago, three sons, Frank A. Lane, Jr. (Kathy) of Fuquay Varina, R. David Lane (Cathey) of Raleigh, Ben C. Lane (Jennifer) of Libertyville, Illinios, seven granddaughters, Denise Firman, Alecia Miller, Amanda Meyer, Taylor Lane, Jordan Lane, Evan Lane, Elizabeth Lane, three grandsons, Justin Lane, Travis Lane, Alek Lazarski, five great grandchildren, Hannah Firman, Dillon Firman, McKenna Firman, Michael Miller and Sofia Miller.  He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Theresa H. Lane, two brothers, Walter B. Lane Jr., Ralph H. Lane, three sisters, Carolyn and Marjorie Lane, and Barbara Lane Langston.

Visitation will be held Saturday, December 31, 2011 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at Banks United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.
 

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial gifts may be made to Brooksdale United Methodist Church of Roxboro or Banks United Methodist Church of Wilton.

May you find comfort as I have in Gods promise that soon “death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore” Revelation 21:4. We are further comforted in Gods promise that our dead loved ones have the hope of living again. John 5:28, 29; Isaiah 26:19. My condolences go out to the family.
