June 3, 2016 would have been the 100th birthday of Lt. Col. Frank Mayfield. Frank served in both World War II and Korea and received two silver stars, a bronze star and a purple heart. He was proud of his service in the First Cavalry Division and was a Charter member of the First Cavalry Division Association and the Horse Calvary Association. I am fortunate that he was my uncle and will remember him with love and gratitude on his 100th.
