Evelyn P. Rush Mayfield

Evelyn P. Mayfield September 4, 1918 – December 31, 2008

 

Evelyn Rush Mayfield passed away December 31, 2008 at the age of 90. 

She was born at Junction City, Kansas September 4, 1918 to Clifford and Agnes Hunt Rush.  

She was preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years, Lt. Col. Frank G. Mayfield, parents and sisters Carol Rush Taylor and Dolores Rush Collins. She was survived by Mrs. Clifford (Emma) Rush and brother, Don Rush.

She worked as a nurse in Junction City, Kansas and San Antonio, Texas and was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church.

Visitation was held Thursday, January 8, 2009 at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Graveside services followed at at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.

Frank G. Mayfiled 1916 - 2005

Lt. Col. Frank G. Mayfield  June 3, 1916 – September 1, 2005

 

Lt Col. Frank G. Mayfield, 89, passed away Thursday. September 1, 2005.


Frank Mayfield was born June 3, 1916 in Oklahoma to Fee and Rebecca Mayfield.   

He was survived by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Rush Mayfield.  

Col. Mayfield graduated from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Oklahoma and entered the Army as a Thomason Act Officer in 1939. While serving with the 1st Calvary Division in the Pacific in W.W.II, he participated in the liberation of prisoners in Santa Tomas Prison, Manilla. During his service, Col. Mayfield was awarded numerous decorations including 2 Silver Stars, a Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart.

He retired from the Army at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, in 1960.

Col. Mayfield was a charter member of the 1st Cavalry Division Association and the Horse Calvary Association, as well as a member of Army Masonic Lodge No. 1105, Alzafar Shrine.

Visitation was September 6, 2005 at Sunset Funeral Home.  Graveside services were September 7, 2005 at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
