This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Fred M. Wilson, II, MD, 72, born on December 10, 1940 and passed away on August 23, 2013. We will love and remember him forever.
My father was a True Gentleman:
The True Gentleman
"The True Gentleman is the man whose conduct proceeds from good
will and an acute sense of propriety, and whose self-control is equal to
all emergencies; who does not make the poor man conscious of his
poverty, the obscure man of his obscurity, or any man of his inferiority
or deformity; who is himself humbled if necessity compels him to
humble another; who does not flatter wealth, cringe before power, or
boast of his own possessions or achievements; who speaks with
frankness but always with sincerity and sympathy; whose deed follows
his word; who thinks of the rights and feelings of others, rather than his
own; and who appears well in any company, a man with whom honor is
sacred and virtue safe."

Love,
Your son
There isn't a day that goes by without thinking of you. I miss you and love you. Today marks one year that you gained your Heavenly wings. I know you watch over all of us. You were the most caring, honorable, patient man...I'm so grateful that you were my Dad...you still are my Dad and that will forever be.
~ Maya Angelou
Dr. Wilson, may God keep you in His precious care and may your memory will be eternal. You *are* the quintessential husband, father, grandfather, physician, healer, teacher, mentor and above all, friend. You touched more hearts than there are words to articulate.
I'm blessed to have known you, learned from you, and above all, to call you my friend.
Alex
I love you.

How Mom & Dad met
My mother and father met in 1962 while he was a medical student at Indiana University School of Medicine and my mother was a nursing student at Marion County General Hospital School of Nursing (Wishard). My mother had gone in to the snack bar at Marion County General--my father was also in the snack bar with another medical student, and my mother caught my father's eye. Soon after this event, my mother received a phone call from my father asking for a date and the rest was history. My mother says that on their dates, they would often split a hamburger because they had such little money and even ran out of gas a few times.
