All the knotty pine cabinets Dad built are installed and Mom made new curtains.  The butcher block topped dishwasher was the final touch.

Dad and mom both worked tirelessly to re-model and rebuild this old house.  Growing up we called it the Wilson St. Mystery House because it was always changing.  Dad did all the work himself building the cabinets and installing the pine woodwork.

Mom was a fashionista for sure.  But I remember the beach towels.  The blue one got to be 30 years old.  When Bob and I visited mom and dad in the 1970s we used that towel.

We had scores of memorable summers in this house.  To the right of Steve is an umbrella and sheets that we used to make a tent house from and play in on days when it was too cold or rainy to go to the beach.  

Steve has a bandaid on his head because he cut his head on broken glass in the cellar window in the Reading house.  I broke the window and have always felt guilty for Steve's injury.  

Cousin Kenny and my brothers and I collected hundreds of starfish and dried them out on the old barn foundation on Crooked Lane. Then we shellacked the dried starfish and brought them down to Main Street, placed them on a card table and sold them to summer tourists.

Dad took us to Coatu for a picnic.

Dad borrowed a friends boat and took us on a picnic to Coatu on Nantucket during a summer vacation in the 1960s.  

Hawaii 1960s.  Tracking ICBMs stationed in Hawaii and mom got to go on a vaction!
