ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Frederick Lorenz, 79, born on September 9th, 1933. Fred passed away peacefully on November 17th, 2012, among family in Issaquah, Washington, content to have spent his last years in his own home despite the challenges presented by his declining health. A man of few complaints and grateful for the love which surrounded him, he was able to reflect proudly on a life worth living. As his grandson, Hugo, wrote upon hearing the sad news of his passing, “he said a thing and did it”. That was Fred, a man of action who overcame many obstacles to pursue his dream of becoming a pilot. He was a sincere family man who cared about the feelings and needs of others. He will be missed.

For each of us is created to die, And within me I know, I was born to fly.

— Gary Claud Stokor

He is survived by his wife of 38 years Bonnie, three children Ryan, Sarah, Colin, two grandchildren Alexandra, and Hugo, his sister Dorothy Walega, and her two sons Doug and Don.

A memorial service to honor and celebrate this great man will be held at the family home TBD March 2013. All friends and family are dearly welcome to attend, please contact us at: fredlorenzmemorial@gmail.com

Those of us who have been at Boeing long enough to remember Fred's time here are greatly saddened at his passing. He was one of the good ones.

It was an honor to work with Fred. As an excellent yet humble pilot with great technical competence, easy to talk to, friendly by nature, he was an immense help to me and my flight simulator engineering colleagues on the 737 programs. I'll always remember him warmly.
