It was like yesterday, almost seven years ago, that you departed this world. It seems like yesterday that you departed. We never stopped missing you. A day hardly pass without mentioning you in our conversation. You no doubt impacted our lives beyond imagination. We wish you could be around for us to tell you how much you mean to us. Live on Baba White.

My father, my father

January 31, 2019

How could I have ever understood the fatherhood of God if you had not depicted what a good father was? It was very easy for me to understand that God is a loving father, because my earthly father Gabriel Olufunmilayo Ifarajimi was indeed a good father.

A selfless man who was dedicated to making life worth living for all and sundry. He sacrificed all comfort to ensure the well being of his family. Nothing was too big to be given, no distance was too far that he would not walk us down. Reflecting on the life and times of my father, I cannot but marvel at the level of his love and care. He gave all of us his children the right footing we all needed in life. He did his best to ensure none of us is behind.

A number of fathers will only do what is convenient, but not Gabriel Olufunmilayo. He was ready to give his life in exchange for many or any of his children. A few days ago I reminiscenced about the challenges and the tough times the family experienced. In all the family trials and struggles, he remained strong, resolute, and focused. He fought many battles but lost none.

My father, our father died at a time we all wished he could live on. All the children were sad at his demise, not because his life was cut short, but more because he could have lived longer for us to be able to say thank you for all he did. I know some of us still fight back tears at the remembrance of him, many of his children will no doubt have a wet full and tearful today- 31st January.

I get mostly amused when I witness his trait in all of his children. His love, care, selflessness, passion, strength, boldness, courage, tenacity and love for humanity. If the dead do see into the world of the living, I am sure he laughs each time he sees us all demonstrate his virtues.

Words cannot bring back what is lost, but sure does bring reliefs to heavy hearts. Gabriel Olufunmilayo is forever a part of us that we will never be separated from. He lives on in our hearts.

WHITE SUNDAY

January 31, 2019

How can we ever forget you. It seven years, that Gabriel Olufunmilayo Ifarajimi transited. It is however like yesterday, fresh in our memories. On the 3rd of February 2019, there shall be a Service of Hymns where his favorite lifetime hymns shall be rendered in honor of his contributions to making hymns and worship of God meaningful. Popular hymns like Ẹ jẹ ká f'inu dídùn, shall fill the air. A service where most worshippers and lovers will be adorned in all white apparels in honor of his love for the White outfits. This earned him the appellation of Baba White.
