Gail was a very special man. He walked beside me through a very rough time in my life when I was married to an abusive man. Gail and his wife Peggy encouraged me and once my kids were taken away by the State, Gail was there for me whenever I needed him. I gave my kids away voluntarily which they call an open adoption because I knew that I could not care for five children by myself and I had left my abusive husband right after the fourth child was born. After I lost my kids I ended up in the psychiatric ward in Corvallis Oregon and Gail would come to see me every day and would hold my hand. The first week I was there I was catatonic and had no interest in anything. When I started improving I would go on outing with the groups that the hospital would give and even fed Gail some of the food that we cooked from things we would glean. Gail has been gone a number of years but will always have a very special place in my heart and I will always think very fondly of him.
