Two memories stand out to me:
Aunty Gail, without skipping a beat, lying down on the ground so Darrel could bunny hop over her with his BMX. She had not seen him do this before, she had no idea if he could do it, yet she trusted him!

The other is my eternal gratefulness for her faithfulness in teaching discipleship lessons to my own mother - it still bears fruit ❤️

When I heard the news of Gail passing my first memory that came to mind was aunty Gail stopping and chatting to me in Leondale every Friday afternoon then inviting me to take Natalie and Belinda to the Kings Kids group this started my journey of finding Jesus and accepting him as my personal Savior. So Thank you Aunty Gail for taking the time to stop and chat to me. It was a privilege to know you and you will be greatly missed.

When I married my dear husband Robert, I remember the privilege of being asked to call "aunty Gail" Mom. Once the grandkids were born "mom " became "ma".

Ma, was soft spoken for the most part, someone I knew I could tell my heart to, knowing she would listen, give godly wisdom and always pray for me!! She loved the Word of God and always had a scripture to share, and in the older days a poem too! She loved the hymns and we spent many times singing together.

She loved her grandchildren and always had time to lavish love and special things on them. They loved bringing their friends to ma's house, even for sleepovers.

She supported Robert in his call to Missions and let him go to Congo with her support, love and blessing!

"Ma" will be sorely missed. Such a hole is hard to fill.

" Ma, I will meet you at "The River" that flows by the throne of God!!"

2 Corinthians 1:3 - 4
3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Psalms 34:18
The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Revelation 21:4
And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

Ma and me

June 25, 2021
Ma and Me

I can’t express the sadness with the loss of mom, and not being able to be with my family today.
Jen just want to thank you for your sacrificial and  selfless love in caring for mom in your home over the years.

Ma and me
She was my ma, my lady, my go to, my confidant, my encourager, my best friend, she made me cry and she made me laugh. But most of all I felt loved and cherished by a very proud mom.

Being the youngest her baby, I shared a closeness, also being very much like her in character and in thinking a lot alike.

I always remember my mom being at home for us and she looked after us within her means. She enjoyed reading, baking, knitting and crochet.

She had such a deep love and honour for our dad who we called Papa. He passed away in Oct 2014; and has been sorely missed by all. One could not begin to image her life without him.

She cherished her children.

She loved her son in-law Simon, although they did tease each other often. She loved his preaching and teaching. I will miss sending her the preaching videos as those would be the times when she accidentally called us instead of watching the video.

She was the best grandma ever, from a very young age when Dan heard me calling my mom ma he started calling her ma too. We could never get him to change it to granny but he would occasionally say grandma. Eventually all us children and the grandchildren called her ma. She was my Lady mom.

She loved the Lord with all her heart and it was so evident in every aspect of her life. She would be ready to give a tract and witness. She served the Lord alongside my dad for many years. Even up in years they were still serving in different ways.
Thank you Pastor Gavin for your love and care shown to my mom as church member of Bethal Baptist, for the calls, gifts and love gifts given to her over the years. She desperately missed going to church enjoyed your preaching and teaching very much.

She was a prayer warrior and such an encourager, gentle and tender hearted. The fruit of the spirit of God could be evidently seen in her life that love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance.

She was quite an industries lady, there was a time when she started chocolate moulding and baking of koeksisters, which I use to take to my work at the United Bank in Jhb and made sales on many floors. She did that for a few years and then went into teaching preschool.

We taught together at the same school, she loved her preschoolers and they loved her like a granny.

Mom with her business skills ran a little tuck shop at the Prechool School. From lollies to chocolate cake.

Mom had a love for pretty things from flowers, fragrance, candles even a pretty serviette. Today I am wearing this pretty blouse that I have bought for her.

She like me, loved chocolates, sweets and snacks, well then again who doesn’t. I think this love runs deeper in some of our family members more than others.

She loved some of the UK treats like curly wirlies and wagon wheels.

Mom had a love for sports and was quite a serious supporter when it came to cricket and very much so with Rugby and the Bokke Bokkes,Biltong and all. There were times that I would have to call her back, as she was finishing up watching  a match. She also enjoyed tennis. I believe mom was a good swimmer and won medals in her younger years.

Moving to the UK was the hardest separation for mom and me. But she knew we were going to be serving the Lord and have been for 16 years. She has faithfully prayed and encouraged us personally and in the ministry. I am so thankful for our family holiday reunions where we have made fantastic memories and will continue to do so.

Mom had extended her friendship even here in the UK where there are many that loved her gentle Godly character. Even one of the ladies at my work would send her a English lavender hand cream andbody spray every time I go over.

What a Lady!

I could write a book about Ma and Me but I best stop now.

Philippians 1:3-11
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.

Your Baby

Susan

June 24, 2021
Susan is the young lady that cleaned our home, who came to work today 24 June21 but was so distraught about the passing of my beautiful mother that I had to take her back home. On the way there she told me that she will forever miss my Mom's voice when she greeted her "Hello my Suz how are you?" and her beautiful smile.
My Mom used to say to Rick and I we couldn't have second helpings of dinner because she needed to keep left-overs for Susan.  She treated Susan like her own daughter.  My Mom gave her a Bible with a message in it which Susan says she will treasure forever.
I aspire to being as kind as my Mom was.
Love you always Mom - Jenny
