Christmas Pudding

June 24, 2021
My Granny, Sheila Manthe used to make Christmas pudding at Christmas time and it was tradition for her then to put (boiled) 5 cents pieces in.  The children use to eat the pudding just to get the money. (We could get a couple of Chappies for 5 cents)

My Mom carried on the tradition of making the Christmas pudding using my Gran's recipe.  Christmas was not the same without it.  Fortunately for my siblings I have the recipe so I can make it too but it will never be as good.  She had a special ingredient (it was made with love).

Going to the Chapel and we're gonna get married...

June 24, 2021
Gail Manthe set out on the 23rd December 1961 to church to become Mrs Marsh.
She was marrying the love of her life Lewis Arthur Marsh and they were married for 53 years when he died in 2014.
They were married in the Church of England.

She told us children about how somehow no transport was arranged for her Lewis to get to the church.  He ended up having to hitchhike and managed to get a lift from someone who was driving passed him, that was attending his wedding. Toooo funny

Then he had to leave his wedding during the reception to go to his flat because the meerkat he had as a pet escaped and was terrorising his neighbour.
