Gar was a native Californian, born in La Mesa and resided in Escondido. He served in the Army National Guard for 14 years, and retired from teaching middle school math and industrial arts in Santee after 27 years.  Gar's 3 great loves were his wife Kay, his handyman business, and his faith in Jesus Christ.  He and Kay enjoyed being involved in ministries at Bethel Baptist Church.  His favorites were serving on the community service teams and the Vision Team missions trip to Israel and Jordan in 2008.  He loved get togethers with family and friends, for barbeques and swim parties. Some of his favorite activities were swimming and looking for bugs with his 5 yr old grandson, who called him "Pipa" He leaves his wife, Kay; brothers, Pierre, Burk & Ed; stepchildren, Brandon, Kara and Dan; step grandchildren, Xander, Josie, Drew, and Simon; and many extended family and friends.
