I remembered I was shadowing you during your appointment because you were from a different place hence it’s understandable that some things you might not be familiar with. 
To be honest I thought you were like the rest that I shadowed, do as per what you are told and life goes on. Apparently I was wrong, you were really different. You were inspiring everyone, running up and down, to keep pushing even though you were really tired, panting and struggling. Yet you still reminded everyone to check on themselves even though it was annoying but that was the right thing to do. You had fighting spirit, esprit de corp and honourable yet humble. After your appointment, you came up to thank me for guiding you through. 
I told you before a quote and I’m telling your love ones now “Only a life live for others is worth living”. You have clearly shown that to the whole detachment that you put everyone else before you. You have my deepest respect!!

I remembered that occasion when you were assigned as the appointment holder; leading your team for an exercise. Throughout the whole event, your team and you demonstrated tremendous teamwork to achieve seamless success in the mission allocated to your team.

However, one of your team members misplaced an equipment during the movement phase. Even though the piece of equipment was found, a mistake is still a mistake. The instructors stood firmed, wanting to punish the whole team even after a tremendous mission. You stood up and told the instructors that it was your fault as an appointment holder for not ensuring all equipment were accounted properly, as part of the deal before the mission began.

The instructors agreed and punished you for thirty minutes; you did not cry a single sorrow or expressed any hardship. Your heartfelt actions touched not only your team and also the instructors watching the whole scene. 

For those who knew Garret as a friend, colleague or love ones, I believed there were similar occasions where our dear friend had been kind and altruistic to everyone...
