Garry was born to Billy and Versia Derringer. He was the 5th of 6 kids.He has 4 Children, Christy, Kimberley, Missy and Lonnie. He was married to Joan Derringer for 33 Years. 15 grandchildren and recently became a great grandpa. He has many many nephews and nieces that loved him dearly. He built his house, With the help of family, when i was just a little one. Growing up he and his brother sisters, nieces nephews, kids , wife went camping.(we all had those campers that go in the back of a pickup truck) the same pickup truck all 6 of us rode in. piled in that truck riding back from uncle Larry's riding horses, bailing hail, deer hunting. fixing something on the farm in Rockwood. When we were kids we were always at grandpa and grandma Derringers for fish fry's .Hoping the family didnt get into a political discussion.(or there was gonna be yelling) The Derringer family is all set in their ways and none of them think they are wrong. Most of them would drop what they were doing to help each other out.Bill, Wilma Larry ,Ladonna and dad were very close.
He recently retired from the Carpenters union. And loved spending his time fishing in his Bass boat.He also kinda enjoyed being the" house bitch " he cooked for his family ,his wife's church. he even learned to run the dishwasher. But he sayed Joan hid the vacuum cleaner from him.(that was his joke)
He was just a kind person. He loved to teach anyone his wisdom of fishing or hunting. Most of the kids in our family who 1st started hunting went with Him. He loved to see their face when they killed their 1st deer, and he would be so proud to tell the story to the family.
He loved his grandchildren he loved being with them making them biscuits and gravy. And believe me the kids all said grandpas were the best none of us could do it like him.(believe me we have all tried)
Ill remember holidays at the house.him making sure all of us had a plate before he got his. and knowing that chair at the end of the table was dads. He loved hosting Thanksgiving for the Averbeck family. He enjoyed being with his friends. His Wednesday nights with Bob and Sharon.Of course Joan was the DD. He loved his cold draft Miller light at the bars. and everyone knew he wanted a fresh frosty mug each beer.
He knew all the stories of his family. And recently Christy and i were blessed to go to Cave in rock with him visit family cemetary's hear stories of his childhood. We had the best time and i will cherish that forever.
I love how my children look like him. (the big thumbs) and those huge paws.I love how my uncles have the same hands.
My father was a kind man he would not hold grudges. my Mother Sue and him were divorced. But he was her friend. He loved her for giving him his kids.He never ever had a bad word to say about her to me our my sister.Nor did she about him. They made being a child of divorce so easy. And besides if it weren't for their divorce i wouldn't have Joan, Kim or Lonnie. he knew life was how it was meant to be.
He was and always will be loved by his family, and friends. And in all of us we will keep him here with us in our own ways. He will never be forgot.
