Gary was born on January 20, 1935 in Ogden, UT to Byron and Faun Allen. He grew up and attended schools in Ogden. Gary proudly served his country for 35 years in the United States Air Force and Reserves. He was honorably discharged in 1990 from March AFB in Riverside, CA. During his military service Gary was very successful at boxing, including many bouts against ranked opponents.

Gary James Allen, MSgt, USAF, (Ret), 76, passed away on Thursday, December 8, 2011 in Sandpoint, ID. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Lakeview Funeral Home, 301 Olive Ave, in Sandpoint with Pastor John Stanton officiating. Military honors will be held later at 1:30 pm on Friday at the Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA.

Gary married Edna Dewey on November 8, 1959 in Abilene, TX. The couple raised 4 children in Oregon and Southern California. In 1999 Gary moved to North Idaho.
Gary was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He enjoyed all sports, especially golf and baseball, and playing pinochle.
He is survived by his two daughters Debbie Kelley of Bonners Ferry, ID and Jackie (Josias) Robinson III of Calimesa, CA; one son Walter “Grey” Allen of Eureka, CA; four grandchildren Jessica and Robin Kelley and Josias and Brandi Robinson; two great grandchildren Shaun and Alexis Stephens; three sisters Connie (Elmer) Klein of Chattaroy, WA, Carol Olson of Ogden, UT, and Mary Cook of Ogden, UT; two brothers Jay Allen of Sun City, CA and Lamar Allen of West Weber, UT.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Brent Lee Allen, and two brothers Brent Roger Allen and Norman Allen.
