The son of Pastor Gary, Sr. and Theresa Solomon Johnson of Columbus, Gary was a native of Columbus who was a 2010 graduate of Carver High School. He was scheduled to graduate from the Fort Valley State University in December. where was a Drum Major for the Blue Machine Marching Band. He was a member of Pathway Worship Center where he served as the Youth Pastor and Minister of Music. An affluent musician, Gary also served as Minister of Music at One Way Deliverance Worship Ministry. He was a member of Phi Beta Sigma and Kappa Kappa Psi Fraternities.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Rosie Johnson and Willie Solomon.

Survivors, other than his parents, include: his wife, Miecha E. Johnson; a son, Micha J. Johnson; two sisters, Evanna Johnson and Tiffany Brown (John); his grandmother, Rosenna Solomon; his in-laws, Felix and Linetter Robey; a host of loving and devoted aunts and uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
