Mr. Hollis was an faithful member of Arbor Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a musician, deacon-aide and stage designer for church programs. He received his education in the West Point Public School System.
Gary was truly a man of God. He tired very hard to live a life that was pleasing in God’s sight. He cared about his family and in doing so, he set standards for all men to follow. He strived to be a good example for the member of the church and his community.
He was employed with Tub Time Carwash for 15 years and LaGrange College until his health declined. Gary had a passion for drawing and music.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evan Hollis and Corine Hollis Borden, sisters, Estella Hollis, Mattie Taylor, Sara Hollis, Mary Dawson and a niece, Mary A. Glaze.
He leaves to cherish his memories, wife of 37 years, Teresa A. Hollis, Lagrange, GA, faithful daughter, Demetress “Dee Dee” Hodnett, Lagrange, GA; three sons, Dexter (Toni) Hodnett, College Park, GA; Anthony Hodnett and Gary Hodnett Jr., LaGrange, GA; two brothers, Nathaniel (Patsy) Hollis, West Point, GA, Columbus Hollis, Waverly Hall, GA; six grandchildren, Kiian Hodnett, Kiias Hodnett, Ashlin Holston, D’Nay Hodnett, LaGrange, GA, Tyrese Washington, Washington, DC, Mercedes Moss, West Point, GA; Lakasha Herndon and Staci Dean, College Park, GA, Britney Jennings, LaGrange, GA; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
