Barb,

I am so sorry to learn of Gary's passing. We worked together the last few years of our careers at Caterpillar and retired at the same time. His knowledge of accounting and tax matters was a wonderful contribution to Caterpilllar success. Thank you for writing about his Vietnam Silver and Bronze Star medals for valor. We talked of many things but Gary never told me of these awards given by a grateful nation...clear symbols of heroism...such laudable humility.

Gary and I want you to know that our thoughts and prayers are with at this sad time. I worked with Gary at Cat Financial Peoria before the company moved to Nashville as we moved with it. Remember that he and you thought about moving to Nashville but your job in Chicago was a deciding factor. We were at your house with Bob and Helen for a party. Lots of fun. Your husband was a great guy and hard worker. Gone too soon.
