Les and Gayle had four kids in five years…

Bertha, Frank, Donny, Virginia, Kathy, Rosalie, Gayle, Charlene and Jimmy Casey.

This photo was taken to announce Gayle's engagement to Mr. Leslie Baumgartner. They were married on January 20, 1956.

All of us kids remember this photo of mom and wanted a copy. She said she was ten or eleven years old, when we asked her how old she was.

 It remains one of our favorites.

We are pretty sure she was in high school when this photo was taken and had already met Leslie Baumgartner.

The spark in Gayle's eyes was always there.

Gayle was named after her mother's brother, Gale Squire. Gayle was close to Gale and Ruby, spending many summers helping them on their farm in Ransom, Kansas. Ruby taught Gayle how to bake bread and pies, and preserve fruits and vegetables. One of our favorite memories growing up was the taste of fresh baked bread, smothered with butter and raspberry jam that mom had made.
