My cousin Gangadhara and my father were extremely close, and I looked up to him as a father figure. Despite our limited number of interactions, Gangadhara was always caring, friendly, and knowledgeable. I still carry his advice and thoughts with me to this day. Simply, he was a man who cared deeply for his family and friends, and I will miss him dearly.

Gangadhar and Bharati were good friends of ours for many, many years . Gangadhar was a gentleman to the core and meant no harm to nobody. Always interesting to speak to and enjoyable company. Very much family oriented and honest person.
Our sympathies and love to Bharati and family.
We will miss him. May his soul Rest In Peace.

Gangadhar was my oldest brother. He wasn’t around when I was growing up, but I got to know later. What struck me most was his dedication to his family and his job. He looked very much like my father and he had the same soft voice, kindness and demeanor as him. He always loved a good debate. We are going to miss him.

A great soul and a quite gentleman with wisdom and global knowledge. Had pleasant discussions on several topics during our couple of visits.

I know my brother as a very bright student yet never bragged about his academic excellence. He was very simple, risk averse, and never wanted to even seek promotions at work to avoid work related headaches and politics. We worked for the same Agency of the US Government. His colleagues used to tell me how straight forward and systematic he was at work. I do not know anyone who had the energy to drive 70 miles per day, 5 days a week for nearly 25 years and still kept smile on his face. He is probably the longest American resident of the village of Buford, GA. I dearly miss him as a brother and as a colleague.

My Brother was a kind, loving human being who cared deeply about his family. He was a devoted huband and father. He led a very simple life. He was well informed and there is not a topic he couldn't talk with great understanding and wisdom. We are going to miss him.

The Life of Gangadhara Babu Gavini

Gangadhara Babu Gavini was born in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh in Southern India on September 2, 1943.  He was the second of seven children. His parents were Suryanarayna and Mangamamba Gavini. Babu is survived by his wife Bharathi Gavini, daughter Mamatha Gavini, brothers Vinaya Gavini, Murali Gavini, Vijaya Kumar Gavini, and sisters Seetha Gavini-McFadden, Swarna Latha Tetali, and Anu Radha Gavini.

Babu grew up in the city of Guntur, in Andhra Pradesh, India.  He was married to Bharathi on March 5, 1969. Babu attended the University of Madras and earned an undergraduate degree in Chemistry and a Master’s degree in Leather Technology. His first job was at the Madras Central Leather Technology Research Institute as a leather research scientist.

He and his wife Bharathi moved from India to the  US to Buford, GA for a job at the Bona Allen Tannery in 1971 where he lived for almost 50 years. He spent the last decades of his career at the FDA as a food chemist where he retired in 2014.

He liked the music of Gantasala and Whitney Houston. He liked watching old Telugu movies and keeping up with current US politics. He often looked serious but was very kind. He was knowledgeable on a wide range of subjects but always intellectually curious. He was devoted to his family and lived a  simple life.  He enjoyed my moms homemade South Indian food and pizza. And he loved playing bridge!

He died in his home, with his family by his side, on April 30, 2021, after several years of battling dementia.

My name is Tanisha Williams, and I worked with Babu for several years assisting with monitoring Annex II DIW System. He trained me as Melissa Benjamin's replacement. I had much respect for him because he cared about and enjoyed his job. The irony was his stern facial expression but "very" nice personality. He was unique. Where GOD is may you spiritually be also.

During your time of mourning, the spiritual poem FOOTPRINTS.

My condolences to the family
