Gene Alfred Davis

January 29, 1948 - November 30, 2012

Gene Alfred Davis, a native of Bay Minette, Alabama, and a resident of Robertsdale, Alabama, was born on January 29, 1948, to Alfred and Haven King, and departed this life at home on November 30, 2012, at the age of 64.  Gene was adopted at age 3 by Alvin "Buck" and Agnes Davis of Bay Minette.  As a toddler, he had a proclivity for staying awake most of the night, and was affectionately given the nickname, "Wokus", by which he was known by most of his friends and family.  Gene liked to fish and hunt in his younger years.  He was very intelligent, independent, and had an irreverent sense of humor.  Gene joined the US Marine Corps in 1966 and served in the Vietnam conflict.  He was always proud to be called a Marine.  One of the most tragic events in Gene's life was when his very close friend, Merrill "Andy" Mosier was killed in Vietnam in 1968.  Gene enjoyed living in Alaska for several years, lived a short time in California, and then moved back to Alabama, where friends will remember his drag racing exploits at the dirt track in Loxley in the 1990s.  Gene was preceeded in death by his parents, Alfred "Pee-Wee" King and Haven McCrory King; and his adoptive parents, Alvin and Agnes Davis, all of Bay Minette.  He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Davis of Robertsdale, Alabama; son, Wade Davis of Bay Minette, Alabama; sisters, Faye Cooper and Trudy Foster of Bay Minette, Alabama, and Shelley Davis Sharum of McKinney, Texas; and brothers, Johnny King of Robertsdale, Alabama, and Ronald Davis of Bay Minette, Alabama.  Gene is also survived by several life-long close friends.  Gene was cremated and no services are planned.

Rest in Peace, Brother.
