I am flying, I am flying, like a bird across the sky. I am flying, passing high clouds, to be with you, to be free. Can you hear me, can you hear me thro the dark night , far away, I am dying, forever trying, to be with you, who can say. Can you hear me, can you hear me, thro the dark nights far away. I am dying, forever trying, to be with you, who can say. We are sailing we are sailing, home again across the sea. We are sailing stormy waters, to be near you, to be free.

Going to miss you badly, big brother. Just early this morning I was remembering that trip you and I did to your old stomping grounds in Santa Monica, then going out to Topanga to find the first house dad built in the canyon. During the drive from Mesa and back I think we solved every world problem in that era. The trip was too short, Gene. And thank you for all the generosity you and Joyce showed Carol and me during the times we visited Mesa. Wish we could make another run with Monterey Vinyard cases of wine from the Gonzales winery. Here's tipping a glass, or maybe more, to you, Gene.

You are my Hero Dad. We have really been thru it all together. I will never forget dancing on your feet to Glen Miller. I don't know what I will do without you by my side. Our daily talks about life, the stars , and how the universe works. Listening to your childhood memories of Gma & Gdad Flatt, and all of the stories of you and mom , your aunts and uncles, school days and grade school. We didn't quite make it thru this last round of James Bond movies in order but we did finish all Indiana Jones movies a few times didn't we! I will miss watching all our tv shows together at night, and the old 30,40,50 era movies. I will do what you said. I promise. ❤️

I am so proud to have been your wingman through these last few battles. I know you are sailing with mom now, amongst the most colorful of sunsets. Have fun dad! You have certainly earned it. I love you with all that I am.

JIBE HO! I know I will see you again when you pick me up "by the seashore". ⛵️

I had known Gene for many years. Always enjoyed talking with him especially the storys about his time at the General Motors Desert Proving Grounds. He created their logo. Before they closed, I was able to procure a piece of instrumentation that was pictured in the logo. I gave it to him and I think it made him remember happier times. Rest in peace, Gene.
