His Life

The Life of a Wonderful Man

November 8, 2009

Eugene Patrick Sloan was born  and raised in Royal Oak, MI to proud parents Eugene Anthony and Patricia Sloan. He was one of six siblings ( Sharon, Gael, Ken, Elaine and Dave).  He married, Colleen Cable Sloan,  on October 21,1977 and had two daughters, Dayna(1982) and Erika(1986). He was a man that always put family before anything else!

Although Eugene was his official name, it was not something that many knew about him. He was more formally known as "Genie", "Geno" , "Trig-Man" or the most frequently used..Gene. He was a self taught engineer and could figure out mathmatical configurations in two seconds flat. For those that had the privilage of working on projects with him (like buliding deck for example) learned that nothing could be done with out numerous calculations being involved (hence the nickname "Trig-man")...

He had a strong passion for hunting. The begining of fall would make his face light up like a kid at christmas. Nothing was more exciting for him than to pack up that big blue van with all the hunting gear and travel up north with just his closest friends, to escape from the everyday stresses of the world and be in the  woods for a week.  He used to say that one of the best places on earth was sitting in the middle of the woods in his tree stand for hours.

He was always the life of the party whether it be with a kareoke microphone or just his infectious laugh...He loved having a good time and to do that, it meant making everyone around him laugh and enjoy themselves.  He had the gift of making you feel like you were the only one around in a room full of people.

He would call each and every person he met a "good guy" / "sweet heart". Or if you were under the age of 20 you got the all famous "kiddo" or the occasional "big guy". He never had a bad thing to say, and would give his right arm to help ANYONE regardless of if he knew you for a second or not. What a guy!
