I can remember being a small child and like most kids I didn't do well around strangers. But with Gene…he was never a stranger. He had (in my mind) a slight southern twang, which were his Hoosier roots coming out. But as I reflect, growing up in Massachusetts, Hoosier might as well been Alabama.
His ability to tell a story was unparalleled. I can remember golfing with Gene and my dad, laughing so much my sides hurt. His voice, energy, humor and wit would at times make me stare with my mouth open, waiting on every word for the story to hit the climax, it was amazing!
Gene was my friend, loving and real. He was a wonderful Father to his children and laid a strong foundation for them. His amazing spirit will live on through his legacy, and they will always know how much he loved them. He tried with all his heart to stay for them, but God called him, and he had to go.
He loved his wife, I mean LOVED his wife. She now and forever will be his best friend, soul mate and confidant, the love of his life.
No tellin what Dad and Gene have planned for today. The two of them, together, walking, pain free and healthy….wow! If you hear thunder, you know it’s them.
To all the Turners out there, you have the love and sympathy of all the Schneider’s out here. We will miss Gene.
