A time to be born

Geneva Cornelia Jones was born on March 17, 1948 in Edgefield, South Carolina to the late Matthew Owens Sr. and Estelle Robinson.

A time to love

On November 27, 1964 she married the love of her life, the late Rosial C. Jones, Sr. and for many years worked as a fulltime stay at home mom.  They loved and natured their four sons, Del-Lano, Rosial Jr., Darrell, Roderick and one daughter Shawn in the city of Capitol Heights, Maryland.

A time to live

Geneva received her education from District of Columbia Public School system. Employed by the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for 39 years, she worked in several departments including the Association of State Democratic Chairs (ASDC).  It was during her tenure with the ASDC that Geneva assisted with the planning, management, and implementation of the organizations, activities.  Her stellar performance allowed others to depend upon her expertise to ensure the smooth operation of ASDC meetings and conference calls.  She kept everyone together and on point as only she could do. She traveled across the United States and aboard and had been to all states except West Virginia. She belonged to the Ya Ya Club, the Pokeno club, and Sisters-in-Touch.

Known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers, she possessed a contagious smile and an entertaining sense of humor. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith in the Lord.

A time to laugh

Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. Geneva enjoyed traveling, going to church, praying,reading including God’s word. Family gatherings was one of her favorite times. 

 A time to die

Geneva Cornelia Jones (Age 66) of Capitol Heights, MD. was called to be with the Lord on June 15, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband Rosial Carlton Jones Sr. Geneva leaves to cherish her memory four sons, Del-Lano, Rosial Jr. (Traci), Darrell, and Roderick (Quatishia); one daughter, Shawn Johnson (Calvin); seven grandchildren, Jamaal, Victoria, Jordyn, Roderick Q., Sieaun Marks (Brian), Calvin Johnson, Jr, and Dominique Johnson; one great-grandchild, Taylor Johnson; three brothers, Matthew (Sylvia) Owens, Jr., Robert Ramsey, and Billy (Janet) Griffin; one brother-in-law, Virgil Sr. (Margaret); three sister-in-laws, Barbara (Charles) Batts, Deanna Hamilton and Shirley Jones; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
