Mom, I'm scrolling through here and can't seem to find if I've ever made any comments. The last two years have been tough. I miss you so much and I wish you were still here, in a healthy body. I'm sure you're dancing and laughing with Donna, Auntie Shirley, Uncles Freeman and Claude and of course with George. Lots has happened since you've left this earthly plain. Ryan got married to a most amazing woman. You would love her. Keegan has been working hard at Costco and is now front end supervisor and Quinn is also supervisor at his work. Thank you for always loving my sons and telling me how proud you are of them. That means a lot. Sending you big hugs. I love you mom.

My dear mom,
Not a day goes by that I don’t want to pick up the phone and give you a call, at least twice a day! Then I remember all over again that you’re gone. My heart aches like I never felt before because I miss you so much! Yesterday I thought of you all day long and last night I decided I was going to do some thing in your memory, so I watched all of your favourite Saturday night shows! I had lots of laughs and many tears, but I watched every single minute of it and I felt like you were here with me. I even watched the entire Lawrence Welk show from beginning to end, bubbles, corny songs and stuff without stopping! I have to say it made me laugh to think how much you loved to watch that show every Saturday night! So, I had an evening with you last night and I loved it! Every day I have a little something from your pantry, and that brings me close to you as well and I say thank you for all the little tidbits that I’ve been enjoying!
Today I am missing you more than I can say! I spoke to uncle David this afternoon and he’s doing well. That’s another thing that brings me close to you. I’ve been looking at pictures and things that remind me of you all day today and I have an emptiness in my heart, because you’re not here. So, I’ll spend my day today with my memories and my photos, and I will remember you! I am so grateful I had you for a mom, and I cherish my memories!
Thank you for all the wonderful things you did for me and the rest of the kids, I appreciated everything you did for us and always will! Thank you for being a listening ear and a kind supporter when I needed one; thank you for all the fun conversations and the laughs that we had together! Thank you for everything you taught me! So many things over the years that you taught me and now I love to do! Thank you mom! I love you mom! I hope you’re having fun dancing with George, and singing with the Angels just like the song says! Good night mom, I love you.

Mom, for me, it will be surreal for quite a while that you are gone from this earth and that I will never again be able to give you a hug, a kiss or hear your voice. I don't know why but I never pictured that day would come even though I knew it was inevitable. Weird, I can't explain it. I hope love and peace surround you forever in heaven.
My heart will love you forever, my mind will always show me the beautiful memories we made, my body will continue using the skills you gave me to use and to pass on, my soul will one day be with yours again.
Love you mom, I will miss you for as long as I live. XOXOXOXOXOXO

Grandma. You’ve been half of my life these past years. Words cannot express how much I miss you. There is a you sized hole in my heart that won’t be filled. I love you.

Here’s to your dancing in heaven (you tagged me for being an atheist, so, I’ll let you have this one).

Love you.

My last note to mom written 5 days before she died.

June 28, 2021
My dear mom,

I could not let you go before I sent this last message to you from my heart. I want you to know that I  am at peace for you to rest now without anymore pain. My heart breaks thinking about it mom but so you know I give you my blessing for a beautiful journey onto to seeing your parents, sister and brothers.

We have certainly had our ups and downs throughout the years, you and I, however I chose to hold onto the best of our times together mom. I have also gained some wisdom to know that as a mom, you were doing the best you could and being a mom is the most important job on this earth to do. I want you to know that you have given me so many memories to cherish both as a child and into adulthood. I was proud of you making clothes for all of us girls and very happy and proud to wear mine! Then along came your grandchildren, more clothes to make! You were a wonderful seamstress mom. I particularly remember you making extremely bright multiple colored florescent pants for some of your grandkids. One time when Gord, the girls and I had gone to Cultis Lake for the day, the girls were wearing those pants you made them, Erin was a wanderer without a care in the world, Erin had wandered way, way down the beach and her pants were the only reason we could spot her amongst all of those people! I thanked God, then you for making those pants.

I was very proud of you during the many years you were involved our school, the PTA and girl guides. Loved that time you and I were in a skit together with a few others, we danced to the song ‘The Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In’. Remember performing that? That was a great time. And quite the cook and baker you were sharing your goods with many. I most certainly know that each of us kids are gifted with some of your talents!

One particular remembrance that brings me much respect and love to you, is when I stole money, (I remember 10 cents), from your purse……. I felt horrible for a few hours before guilt took over, I felt I had to tell you about it. I wrote you that confection in a note! I was fully expecting a huge punishment, but instead, you gave me the best hug and said to me, OKAY DONNA, I KNOW YOU LEARNED A LESSON!

This one you shared with all of us ….

‘Morning, Time to Rise and Shine, greet the day with a smile!’ That was one of my favorites which you said quite often and personally after I got married and you would call in the morning with the same little ditty… I didn’t like that too much then…..Oh well, it was a mother’s love shining through!

Oh, I have to say this one….The first time you met Emily when she was a baby of about 4 months old and we came for a visit, she laughed almost constantly, she loved the Cat in the Hat puppet you gave her and she absolutely loved your soup!During that same visit, for your birthday I gave you $20.00 to play Keno but I kissed the money first and wished you the best to win, yahoo you won!

I thank you my momma for all of the beautiful moments you have given me, Gord, Erin, Natalie and Emily, we will forever hold them close to our hearts.

Much love mom to your heart from mine, I wish you Sweet Dreams,

your Donna XOXOXOXO
