Dad grew up in Blackpool Lancashire, the eldest of 4 brothers. He had a variety of jobs, from window cleaning to manager of a wine shop.

In 1947 he met his future wife Joan, they courted for 4 years,and married at ST MARKS church in LAYTON, on the 28 June 1952. I was born in 1957, and in 1958 my brother was born.
