George B. Jump, “Jumpy”, of Mullica Hill, age 58, passed away suddenly on July 21, 2016 at home.
George personified making your vocation a vacation, as he enjoyed every minute spent in his backhoe. Whether it be out on the jobsite “playing in the sandbox of life” or riding around plowing snow, making sure his neighbors could get out of their driveway, George would always say how much he, “loved the smell of diesel in the morning.”
If he wasn’t out on the job, George was always spending his free time outdoors. An avid fan of riding off road, George could often be found riding a vintage dirt bike, or even a snowmobile if we were fortunate enough to have snow.
His one true love, however, was the woods. George loved to hunt, and traveled all over the country in search of the next big trophy. From Wyoming looking for antelope, to the Everglades hunting for gators, George was determined to make the most of his time on this earth doing what he loved best. George eventually developed a special affinity for Alabama, a state he ventured to numerous times to go hunting with friends.
Known for his big heart and mischievous smile, those who knew Jumpy have many fond memories and stories of his life. He would do anything for anyone, and will truly be missed.
George is survived by son, Justin P. Hengel (Amanda) of Mullica Hill, mother Dorothy Bay (Woodward), grandchildren Jackson and Declan Hengel and sister Echo Gould (Matthew). He was predeceased by his father, George Jump.
Visitation will be held Tues., July 26, 2016 from 7-9 pm at FERTIG FUNERAL HOME, 63 N. Main St., Mullica Hill, NJ 08062. There will be no formal service. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
