Easter Eggs

April 11, 2023
We have great memories of Easter egg hunts with the family. Here is my favorite Easter pic of George with his Easter eggs <3

Outsiders Picture

August 1, 2022
George didn't leave the house without a book or a pad of paper and pencil to keep him occupied. So, he was always creating cartoons and drawings. George drew this great mouse picture based on The Outsiders book that I believe they had just read in Mr. Dekarski's class at the time. Thank you to Ms. Dekarski for sharing this with us. ❤️

Serenity Painting

August 1, 2022
I just rediscovered this beautiful painting George had made for one of his favorite teachers, Ms. Luppino, when he was in middle school. She wrote us a beautiful letter and so thoughtfully enclosed a picture of this beautiful painting. Thank you so much for sharing this with us, Ms. Luppino. ❤️

Christmas memories

December 26, 2021
George was typically scheduled to work on Christmas Day in the last 5 years we had with him. I would try to get him to speak up and request the day off early but it wasn't always possible, mostly because he would wait a little too long and he was just too nice to push it. We would make sure we had some of his favorite food and presents ready for him and he would enjoy visiting with family before they left. George was off on the last Christmas before he passed away and oh...how I wish I took more pictures.
We have lots of wonderful Christmas memories with George. He enjoyed Mythbusters, the Hobbit, video games (Halo, Minecraft), t-shirts with funny messages on them, and loved watching and sharing funny videos and pictures/cartoons. George was always drawing and creating so he would also love to receive some nice sketch paper and nice pencils for drawing or paints and canvas. Merry Christmas George! Love you always! ❤️

My Boys & George

December 3, 2020
I can still remember when Gordon & Donna moved into our neighborhood along with their boys.  My boys, Sam & Ben, were thrilled to have boys around their age only 2 houses away.  The four of them would play for endless hours either at our house, The Avery's house, my parents house(which was in the middle) or outside endless amounts of time.  They could easily play with Legos, make a fort, or video games but what always stood out to me was George's unbelievable creativity.  Not only was he the most creative of the group, but he had such passion about what he was doing.  I cannot even count all of the times he would stop over the house to show me something he had built or drawn with such pride and explaining all of the details to me.  My boys still cherish their memories with The Avery Boys.  We were devastated when we learned of the loss of George and will remember him and his family always.

Facebook Quote

April 14, 2020
George's facebook quote reminds us all to always be ourselves...

'Of all things you can aspire to be, above all else, aspire to be yourself.'

George was inspired by Kyle's ability to run long distances so he put his mind to it, and with Kyle's encouragement, he worked up to a daily run and became fit and healthy. We found a selfie video of George running on Kaolin Road saying these words of encouragement to his audience...
'If there is something you want to do with your life, you know what?...you go and you do it. Don't let anyone stop you...Yeah!'

Sunrise/Sunset

April 13, 2020
George loved to capture beautiful sunrise and sunset photos such as this one taken on one of many early mornings on his way to work.

Selfies

April 14, 2020
George left us a lot of wonderful, expressive selfies which we will cherish. He had such a great personality and was loved by all!

'Huzzah!' 'Ahoy!' 'Gutentag!'

July 4, 2020
George had these great little catch phrases he used, and would greet people in the most unexpected ways, and had wonderful pet names for all of us. He called his dog Daisy 'Tubesock' and for a while called me 'Madre'. George had a way of making you feel welcome and special. He created thoughtful messages and cards for us and always signed his cards with a cartoon.

George wins Poetry Slam!

October 24, 2020
In seventh grade, George wrote a poem about his guidance counselor and won the Poetry Slam and had his picture posted in the local newspaper. :)

Unforgettable

April 14, 2020
George's Gram loved to sing Karaoke, she would sing at the American Legion 4 nights a week, and did this for many years. She always wanted her grandchildren to join her as George and his cousin William love to sing. When she passed away, we had a memorial dinner for her at the American Legion with all of her friends. George was finally old enough to come and sing. He chose just one song, 'Unforgettable' by Nat King Cole and Natalie Cole, in memory of his beloved Gram. He did a beautiful job, and has a wonderful singing voice.

Brothers

April 13, 2020
George and his brother Gordon were only 16 months apart and were buddies right from the start. Gordon took good care of his little brother, always there to help him when he needed it. They didn't always agree of course, but these two guys rarely fought, which is so rare, especially being so close in age. We are truly blessed and so thankful for the memories!
This is one of my favorite childhood pictures of George with his brother Gordon, all smiles and laughter, bundled up, and ready to play!

On my honor...

July 24, 2020
From a very young age, George was beyond his years, an old soul, very intelligent and insightful. George amazed his teachers, he appeared to be inattentive, was always reading or drawing during class, but when they called on him he always had the answers. George loved his teachers, he enjoyed their company and conversation. George wrote this letter when left third grade.

Halloween memories

This picture captures George's personality! Halloween was a great time for George to express his creativity. Good friends, and great Halloween memories in Blandford!

Squeaky Mouse

July 4, 2020
Anyone who knew George as a child, knew about Squeaky Mouse, a stuffed mouse that he carried around with him. The mouse was given to his brother Gordon by his Gram when George was four. George named him 'Squeaky' and he quickly became George's sidekick and witness to all of George's adventures..he went with him everywhere, outside too, and he would often sneak him into his school backpack. We lost the mouse several times over the years, and he was stuck in a tree for a week in Blandford until he fell out with the wind. Of course George outgrew the mouse but he continued to include him in his artwork and comics and always kept him in his room. We are very lucky to still have the mouse as a reminder of those precious years with George.
