His Life
July 14, 2014

On October 12, 1948, George Henry Brooks was born to the Sallye Kate Ferrell and late James McFarley. He fell asleep at East Alabama Medical Center Valley, Alabama in the Lord’s peaceful arms on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

He confessed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, early in life and united with the body of believers at Bethlehem Baptist Church West Point, Ga.

He completed his educational studies at Harrison High School West Point, Ga Class of 1966.

He employed as a carpenter at the former West Point Stevens, Lanett Plant for nineteen plus years. In his spare time he took pleasure handcrafting wooden (cross) charms and canes. Most importantly, he had an acute taste for his stylish attire.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories two sons: Keith Sebastian Brooks of Birmingham, Alabama and Jamal Orlando Moore of Valley, Alabama and one daughter Dana Latrice Brooks of Fairburn, Georgia; mother Sallye Kate Mitchell of LaGrange, Georgia, step-mother Earnestine McFarley of West Point, Georgia; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He has two sisters Katie Brooks of Detroit, Michigan and Patricia Ann Dixon of Atlanta, Georgia; five brothers: Jerry Brooks of Lanett, Alabama, Richard (Jacqueline) Brooks of Lanett, Alabama, Eddie Roy Thomas, Jr. of Lanett, Alabama, Alvin Moore of West Point, Georgia and Calvin Lofton of Detroit, Michigan; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was blessed to have a special friend and care taker until the end of his days, Martha Billingsley of Lanett, Alabama.
