George's Life

George was born December 20, 1932, to Jesse and Esther (Kirkpatrick) Delp in Idana, a very small farming community in northwest Kansas. He was soon joined by his sister Marylin (Delp) Manning with whom he was still close. He graduated from Miltonvale Rural High School.
After the Korean War, George received a low draft number and decided to enlist in the Air Force before someone else chose for him.
Soon he found himself stationed in Paine Field, Everett, Washington, and one night he went to the USO to meet the local girls, and there he met his “rain goddess”, Connie Koffski. After a yearlong courtship, George and Connie married and went off to see the world courtesy of Uncle Sam.
George and Connie lived at over 30 addresses including Georgia, New Mexico, Kansas, Virginia, and Japan, along with multiple stops in Washington. As a Flight Engineer in the Air Force, he flew all over the world and received numerous awards and citations for his airmanship including the Distinguished Flying Cross.
As they roamed the world, their luggage got bigger and bigger as they added three daughters to the family. Nina Blair, Sue Craven, and Gina Jones.
When George retired from the Air Force after 20 years of service, he owned and operated his own small maintenance business to support his fishing habit. He bought the boat of his dreams and he and Connie spent many days (and nights) floating around local lakes and rivers with their favorite being Baker Lake.
George also loved to play games with the family. He was card shark in the funniest sense of the word. Everyone always jokingly fought over who had to sit next to him as he showed no one any mercy. But true to George's character, when someone got even with him, he always had a good belly laugh about it.
George passed away on March 15, 2021, from complications associated with pancreatic cancer.
In addition to his wife of almost 64 years, Connie (Koffski) Delp, he leaves his two daughters Sue (Jim Craven) and Gina Jones. His daughter Nina Blair predeceased him in 2016. He is also survived by his granddaughters Haleigh Craven, Devin Craven, Lauren (Jones) Tribuzio and grandsons Austin Jones and step grandson Jacob Ray, as well as his great grandsons Colton and Luke. He is also survived by his sister Marylin Manning (Bill), and their children Steve and Carolyn.
