On this site, you will see the following organisation
1) Tributes & Memories shared by everyone near and far that will stay with us forever
2) Gallery of photos, videos commemorating Papa's time on earth be it simple moments or big ones
3) Stories told by those touched by Papa, that wil remain in our hearts

For those who knew my father well, you would be touched by his warmth, sincerity and authentic self that cannot be missed. His positive and contagious energy, his belief and eternal optimism of what's possible in this world and his relentless strive for perfection is truly a force to be reckon with. Some may say he was a man of many words; or of a few. He didn’t take a lot of time to change others’ perception of him but stayed on course, always to deliver and make happen what he has set out to do. A man who always, lived by his words and promises.

In papa's famous words ....

"Stand up and be counted"

Family was everything, whether that of his own or of acquaintances, he always brought people together, closer and advocated to practice truest family values.

Stay true to oneself. Live an authentic and righteous life. Do what's right, have integrity. Follow your heart, and leverage your brain to do good :)

To all whom had share a moment or many moments with Papa, thank you.

Take good care and live well.

Papa, You will continue to inspire us everyday. We love you forever, for eternity and until we see each other again.

XOXO, yours always,
*Your kids ( and the one lady, you loved the most, Mama Heng ❤️ )

Mrs. Heng, my heartfelt condolences to you and your family on the demise of your beloved husband, George. From friendship bloomed into brotherhood, we shared mutual respect and enjoyed our companionship for the past 27 years, especially the last 15 years of my tenure in Klang Valley. A versatile person who preferred low profile lifestyle was always ever ready to lend a helping hand when in need. A jovial guy to spend time with friends.
Reminiscing the childhood days when George brought his family members for a vacation trip to Penang in September 2015; trying out Ice ball at the Heritage City.
Always in remembrance, Bro George.

Dear William,

Our deepest condolences to you and family. May you all find comfort and solace in the many beautiful memories with your father.

Precious times in Prashanti with your father flood our memory. When I was working on music for Bro. Suresh’s plays to be staged in India, I would sometimes think bro’s requests for music and sound design were near impossible. Then he’d explain his vision on what he wants on stage — and I’d think “no way”. But your father would listen patiently and magically construct whatever Bro Suresh needed. I learnt much from observing him.

I remember the countless parts being lined out at the airport. All these carried to Prashanti. Your father was relentless with the crew of devotees, most of whom came from all over the world and were terrified of him! They had to assemble the parts to form gigantic structures as per his instructions. It was spectacular to see. He was fierce to many but incredibly protective and compassionate as well.

My husband Ravee and I had our own set of issues to handle with performances or sound in Prashanti. Your father always quietly watched me. He would know I had skipped meals. He’d insist I come over and eat whatever delicious food he had made and save some for Ravee as well.

During stressful situations, with strictest of expressions, he would startle me by dropping a joke or two — what an incredible leader. He was so very proud of your performances on stage. He would try to brush off praises of his little boy, but his smile revealed his true happiness. I was always a little afraid of him as everyone said he’s so fierce. But I only remember him as the gentle and humourous Uncle who loved to talk about food, feed and serve. It was our great privilege to know such a beautiful soul.

May he Rest In Peace at Swami’s feet.

Much love,
Rekha and Ravee

Words cannot expressed my deep sadness on the sudden passing of my long time very special family and colleague in sport, the late George Heng Kiah Choong.

My initial involvement with George was through his support of the development of Tenpin Bowling at both national and Federal Territory levels Af the Federal Territory level, he was its Deputy President for some time. He devoted much of his time and resources to the high standard Malaysian Tenpin Bowlers have achieved at World and Asian levels. George was also involved in the development of the sports of Sepaktakraw and Petanque in Malaysia.

George Heng was one of the early pioneers of sports marketing and sponsorship in Malaysia with the Olympic Council of Malaysia, initially as a member of OCM 's Sports Marketing Committee and later as an OCM Sports Apparel Sponsor from 2007 to 2012.

During the 1989 SEA Games, he was a member of the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee of the 1989 SEA Games Organising Committee. He was one of those who introduced the installation of Light Boxes onto street lamp posts for sponsors to advertise their products prominently, which made the 1989 SEA Games a great success both financially and commercially

George Heng was an early pioneer of sports marketing in Malaysia. As such, he managed to donate some of his sports wears to some NOCs of the SEA Games Federation and some Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs) of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), through the OCM, thus building up his good name.

On their private level, George and his kind family provided work training and work experience training to my beloved disabled (OKU) daughter, Sieh Shen-Nern, his sports retail shop, MESUMA Sdn Bhd. For their kind and generous support, our eternal gratitude and appreciation

George Heng sudden and unexpected demise is a sad loss to Malaysian Sports Marketing and sports development

SAIRAM and Pranams

Dedicated to an amazing Man who led a colourful life intertwined with many that left an indelible mark forever in our hearts.

I met Uncle George in the mid-1990s through Bangsar Centre activities.

As I started working on projects, I realized that he was someone I cannot mess with and who demanded perfection in any action especially in Service to SAI. This was my first lesson how to serve the Lord, nothing less than perfection or near perfection.

What made me realize that Uncle George was Divine and a man of action was this incident which I am going to share.

I resigned from Renong Berhad and was in between jobs late 1998. Uncle George knowing my situation, offered me a sales job at Mesuma. I was not really a sales person but just went ahead and took the offer as I was hanging lose.

Then in April 1999, Jegathesan asked Uncle George to help look for staff as he was retiring in May and wanted to start his own consultancy.

Uncle George knowing that I was useless at sales offered me to work for Jegathesan’s consultancy. He also spoke to his brother Mark Heng and secured an office space for Jegathesan’s consultancy. It was rent free.

When I started working with Jegathesan, it was the start of nasty rumours that were rife for many years but Uncle George stood in my corner and fought of “these rumour mongering people” who were saying unkind things. He used to be so upset for me. I was so grateful to him… like a mama bear protective of her cub.

When I got married to Jegathesan, again he stood in my corner again and protected me to the best of his ability. I was ever so grateful for that and remain so till this day.

He told off senior devotees, “if you had daughters and people spoke ill of them, would you allow it”. No answer came from them.

This is how my relationship from just Uncle Heng got cemented …… from Uncle to “Spiritual Godfather”. He will remain so until my passing.

A man who had SEVA / Service beating in his heart, he only wanted to serve SAI and the mission.

Though he seemed rough and tough, his inner beauty can never be questioned. Heart of gold and loving man for just causes. This was his reality.

His dedication cannot be matched and a great loss to all and especially the SAI fratenity. He left a void that cannot be replaced in the hearts of many.

It has been my honour and privilege to have known such a beautiful Soul.

With much Love,

Lalita

A tribute to our beloved Uncle George

It is very hard to believe that our hero has left us so soon, forever. We had been following his last days with the family and praying that he will recover from the odds but not to be. God has His plans and will be for his good.

We are blessed to have known Uncle George ( as he was fondly known to us) for decades, through Mark, his brother. Our friendship and relationship grew naturally and extended to our families which we all enjoyed through the years, riding the waves.

George was always a brave and generous man and never failed to give light and support when one needed it. This can be seen through all the charitable and kind works that he got involved, happily and with no expectations. His tireless and contagious efforts were most spectacular and he went to great lengths to get things done. To him, nothing was impossible.

George had also been very connected with food - he was key to taking us to the many nice foods in eateries hidden away, near and far. And it was so him to ensure that the whole table was spread with foods that he knew how to order best. It was all done for his love of us and people whom he knew - not for himself as he was a vegetarian! He was big hearted in what he gave.

Uncle George, I dedicate this little poem for you:

Like a light you shone, many decades
Courage and kindness in us, you laid
Like a hero you led us along
Dancing and singing a lovely song

To many, you had selflessly given
A peaceful resting place for you, in Heaven
Uncle George, as time rolls past
Memories of you will forever last

To Mrs Heng and family, we are very saddened and share your loss. This is a very difficult time and we hope that you all have the strength and energy to go through it well.

We will miss you dearly, Uncle George, forever. But we have you in our hearts and look forward to the days when we can remember you with smiles.

May you rest in peace.

I am truly overwhelmed with sadness as I write these few words about my dear friend George Heng whom I had first known professionally. The characterisation of George if endeavoured, would see one describing him only in superlative adjectives. So often I found myself to be blessed in the company of George who had the innately effortless ability to touch and move others. It was difficult to be ambivalent about his character as George Heng was a man who could only be described out right as being Spiritual, Generous, Thoughtful, Empathetic, Charismatic and Kind- all good human virtues. He was very often the harnessed live wire of any conversation. He also had the incredible ability to relate to every character present in any gathering. His compassion was often matched with his charitable and generous spirit. During the challenges in the course of his business, he was always able to rise above the chaos by restoring calm, even in a perfect storm. His passion and purpose towards his family, business and charity will go on, to surpass his life, as his loved ones take the reins of the helm to keep his evergreen spirit alive. May his soul rest in eternal peace, abiding in God’s safe premise. Om Nama Shivaya.

Sairam Sis Heng/ Maya/ William and all family members,

It is with a heavy heart that we send our deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing away of Bro George Heng.

We had prayed and hoped for his recovery but Swami had his own plans to take him with him to a better place.

The contribution and love that he and the family had for SAI is beyond words can describe. Many of the mega SAI projects that were held locally & overseas would not have been possible without Bro George & the families support.

He was always there to ask what we needed for every SAI event ..and he will deliver quietly.

The Council Office has been functioning seamlessly for more than 20-25 years with his support. No one can sacrifice like him .

I still remember him many a times asking me queitly ...

"upstairs council office all okay ..need anything!"

Bro George's LOVE for Swami is great and undeniable. Though we all know he can be harsh at times but his HEART has always been soft and loving ....

Not only the family but we will all miss him and his fatherly FACE & PRESENCE dearly ALWAYS ...

We pray for his SOUL to rest in peace and give all of the family members the strength to go through this difficult time.

Smiling, cheeky and always with a wisecrack. Sometimes we didn't know if you were joking or serious. A unique person that walked his path differently. Many a times the proverbial Ox, stubborn but determined to finish the task at hand. You left us too soon...

*IN REMEMBRANCE OF MR. GEORGE HENG KIAH CHOONG*

The President, Executive Board and Management of OCM express their heartfelt condolences to the family members of the late Mr. George Heng Kiah Choong, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 23rd June 2021, at the age of 72.
The late Mr. George Heng Kiah Choong (well known as Uncle George) and his wife, Mdm. Tan Yuet Ching (well known as Mrs. Heng) co-founded the MESUMA Sports Sdn. Bhd. on the 2nd September 1983, to provide customized sports apparel, medals and trophies and sports equipment. The company which is named after their three daughters: Melissa, Susan and Maya, was once the sole distributor of Football Thai Factory Sporting Goods Co Ltd, a Thai sports equipment company, well known as FBT in Malaysia. Currently, the company is an exclusive distributor of Marathon (Thailand) Co. Ltd., a wholesale and manufacturer of all-in-one sport equipment in Malaysia.
Uncle George was one of the early pioneers of sports marketing and sponsorship in Malaysia and with the OCM. He was a member of the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee of the Organising Committee of the 15th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 1989.
Uncle George was one of those who introduced the installation of Light Boxes onto street lamp posts for sponsors to advertise their products prominently and to make the 15th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 1989 a great success both financially and commercially.
MESUMA Sports Sdn. Bhd. under his leadership had come onboard to become the Official Attire Sponsor of the OCM from 2006 to 2012. The company had provided sports attire and gears for the Malaysian Contingents to 2 Olympic Games, 1 Asian Games, 3 Asian Beach Games, 2 Asian Indoor Games, 1 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, 2 Asian Winter Games, 1 Asian Youth Games, 1 Commonwealth Games, 2 Commonwealth Youth Games and 3 SEA Games.
Besides that, Uncle George had also secured the sponsorship from the AmBank Group and the Double A for OCM in 2006.
Besides being involved in marketing and sponsorship in sport, Uncle George was also one of the long-time dedicated supporters of the development of Tenpin Bowling at both national and state levels. He was first elected as a Council Member of the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) in 1977, then as Vice President (2001 to 2009) and Senior Vice President (2009 to 2015).
During his tenure with the MTBC, Uncle George was tasked to be a Team Manager for the national Tenpin Bowling Team to numerous International Tenpin Bowling Championships including 5 Multi-Sport Games under the jurisdiction of OCM namely the 12th SEA Games Singapore 1983, the 13th SEA Games Bangkok 1985, the 16th SEA Games Manila 1991, the 17th SEA Games Singapore 1993 and the 18th SEA Games Chiang Mai 1995.
At the state level, he was first elected as Council Member of the Kuala Lumpur Tenpin Bowling Association (KLTBA) from 1976 to 1988, as Vice President from 1988 to 2004 and President from 2004 to 2008. As part of his succession plan, he took up the position of Deputy President from 2008 to 2010 for the transition process to his successor, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohamad Noor Abdul Rahim.
Overall, Uncle George had devoted much of his time and resources to the development of the sport of Tenpin Bowling in Malaysia for the past 45 years which had contributed to the great achievement of Malaysian Tenpin Bowlers at the Asian and World levels.
Many may not have known that Uncle George had also contributed to the development of Sepaktakraw at the state level for many years. He was first elected as a Vice President of the Federal Territory Sepaktakraw Association from 2002 to 2009 and as its Deputy President since 2009 till now (2021). He was once appointed as a Member of the Marketing Committee of the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF).
During his lifetime, Uncle George always caring and sympathetic for the disabled community. He had founded and chaired the Selangor Rehabilitation and Recreational Association for the Disabled since 2009. He was also a Council Member of the Malaysia Association for the Blind since 2011, where he chaired the Fund-Raising Committee and raised over RM 1,000,000 for the Association in 2013.
The sudden and unexpected demise of Uncle George is indeed a sad loss to Malaysian Sport. May his soul rest in peace.

Dear Tan Sri Dato Mohamad Norza Zakaria,
I wish to extend my sincere condolences for the passing of George Heng Kiang Choong.
George Heng, affectionately known as “Uncle George,” made an immense contribution to the sports in Malaysia with his strong connections with the National Team at various multi-sport games over a good number of years. His company, MESUMA, became the official attire sponsor of the OCM for 10 years both in National and International sporting events. An early pioneer of sports marketing and sponsorship in the country, Uncle George also devoted much of his time and resources to raising the standards of Malaysian tenpin bowlers in Asia and at world level. With all these remarkable achievements, I believe he will continue to be an inspiration to the younger generations and his legacy will be cherished and remembered.
I wish to convey my deepest sympathy and share in this great loss with his family, friends, OCM and those grief-stricken by his passing. My prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
Sincerely yours, KhunyingPatama Leeswadtrakul

OBITUARY TO GEORGE HENG , reposted on behalf of Uncle Wan Abdul Rahim

June 30, 2021
Hello. I don’t feel appropriate to wish a good day to all at the time of this bereavement …. But I don’t think George would disapprove of it.
Good Day to all.
Firstly, my deepest condolence to the GEORGIANS on the passing on of the bastion of the family.
George Heng Kiah Choong and I, were schoolmates, classmates from 1964 - 1965. That’s 57 years ago. Just recently on Hari Raya day, he sent a WhatsApp message wishing me a Selamat Hari Raya. A long well written greetings in Bahasa Malaysis. I replied and I inquired of his health.  The reply was just a simple, “Not so Good!”  Then he wrote further on 28 May, but deleted the message. So it didn’t reach me what he had intended to express. I suppose that was when he was in the hospital.
My name is Wan Abdul Rahim. George was not the friendly person at first sight, with his “Don’t mess with me look!”  That’s a consensus among us.  He looks scary, being  a judo exponent. But the school was in a rough neighbourhood and many of the students, in order to play safe were also portraying offensive outlook - were also scary-looking! Nevertheless he was popular among all of us of the same batch.  He was actually one who often make us laugh.
At the same  time, whether before or now, who hasn’t been scolded by George?  Even the Indian spice trader at the Port Dickson market, eagerly and patiently waited to be scolded by him. And the reward was, half of his daily “rempah” of well mixed spices, which according to George are the best rempah in Malaysia; would be purchased by him. And that’s George Heng.
How would I honestly describe him? Maybe the words of Leigh Hunt, the famous poet, will best do so. In his famous poem Hunt wrote about Abou Ben Adhem.
It goes ……
One night Abou was awakened from his slumber, to see glowing lights in his room. He saw an angel busy writing.
He crept up to it and asked:
"What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord, answered, "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou.
"Nay, not so,"  Replied the angel.
Abou spoke more low,  but cheerly still; and said, "I pray thee, then,  write me as one that loves his fellow men."
The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blest,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
That’s George, in fact. As I read the obituaries dedicated to him, George Heng is remembered for everything nice. BUT he never want the best for himself. He always insists the best always for the rest.
George. I will miss you. No more makan-makan, as you often treat me to. We will not be going to PD anymore to visit Zainal to curi-curi makan the diabetic unfriendly dishes.
But there is something really which we have failed to achieve. That is to find Choong Peck Kim, that ‘rascal’  from Brickfields, our school buddy. Maybe he will be there with you.

REPOSTING ON BEHALF OF REKHA AND RAVEE

June 28, 2021
