His positive and contagious energy, his belief and eternal optimism of what's possible in this world and his relentless strive for perfection is truly a force to be reckon with. Some may say he was a man of many words; or of a few. He didn’t take a lot of time to change others’ perception of him but stayed on course, always to deliver and make happen what he has set out to do. A man who always, lived by his words and promises.

In papa's famous words ....

"Stand up and be counted"

Family was everything, whether that of his own or of acquaintances, he always brought people together, closer and advocated to practice truest family values.

Stay true to oneself. Live an authentic and righteous life. Do what's right, have integrity. Follow your heart, and leverage your brain to do good :)

Uncle George, thanks to all the wonderful moment and memories together. You help me a lot, teach me to be better. You always stand up and comfort me when I reported I have been bullied by certain people. I can't list them all because there are too many. Thank you for loving me and my daughter. Uncle always remind me to bring back food for my daughter. When your banana ripe from your garden, uncle remember to give me to bring back for my daughter. Even cream cracker biscuit also you remember to give my daughter. I’m so touch by your love to my daughter. Uncle always donated foods to those in need. Before donate to them uncle will make sure the quality of the foods. Uncle asked us to try the rice first, it's ok or not before donate to them because you don't want them to eat hard rice. Uncle, we will always remember you. May your heart and soul find peace and comfort now. Rest in peace Uncle ❤❤❤

For what is it to die but to stand naked in the wind and melt into the sun?
And what is it to cease breathing but to free the breath from its restless tides, that it may rise and expand and seek God encumbered?
(The Prophet by Khalil Gibran)
The little I know of the late Bro George Heng is that he was a frank person who speaks his heart but keeps nothing after he says it. In my view He is a true “sevak” and a sincere person. Only a person with a heart of a child would be able to do it. The Sathya Sai International Organisation of Malaysia is truly indebted to him and his family for his contribution to the Organisation for more than two decades and still is.
We miss him and may his soul be with the Divine.

I have known George for a short period only. But Raj Kumar knew him earlier.
I consider him a legend for his contributions to the Malaysian sports and his passion to help the mentally disabled people with shelters and financially. He was a soft hearted and ever willing to help although outwardly he looks like a tiger. I enjoyed talking to him and he will not fail to invite for lunch.
He assisted the Malaysian Vegetarian Society, at short notice, in the Asia Pacific Vegan Congress & International VegFest in 2013.
I will miss him dearly. We pray for his soul. May he Rest In Peace

George was a classmate since 1964. We were both from Technical Institute KL. Being from KL and having to take my bus from Malacca Street, I was at the shop William & Sons, often. And each time there Uncle William would order me Kopi Oh and rojak from across the street.
Such was my association with George and his dad.  In and after school.

And our friendship continued. Till the last days. When he heard that I was down with Covid, he messaged me with kind advices. But his response to my inquiry of his health sounds different already at that time. “Not to good” he replied.

I know him to be a very kind hearted gentleman. Though often blunt in words. But we loved him. He has kind thought of friends and his last promise was to go to PD and eat at Zainal’s. Another classmate.

He spoke well of his children - and are proud of them. Truly proud.

I will miss him much. And miss having makan with him.

My deepest condolence to the family. You have lost a beacon and I a true friend.

Reposting on behalf of Joe Carlos

My name is Joe Carlos and I’m so sorry to hear the passing of your husband. I met and came to know George when I was a sports reporter with the Malay Mail. George was an extremely humble, generous and kind-hearted person. His passion for bowling was so magnetic ... it affected everyone who came close to him. I consider myself fortunate to have known him and my only regret is having lost touch with him these last years. My best memories with him was learning to drink Chinese tea with him - I think it was Puer tea. My deepest condolences to you and your family. The bowling world has lost a true friend. May the good Lord guide him to eternal rest.

Mrs Heng you can use my message as my tribute to George.

Hello Susan. Once again my deepest condolences. You should be proud of your late father. He was much loved, had a nice funny side but more importantly, he put others first.

Once again my deepest deepest condolences.

Very charitable person who is responsible for a few homes for the mentally challenged.
A staunch devotee of Sai Bai, was a loving person who always had time for all.

George, you are a brother to me. We would laugh, play pranks on each other, plan seva projects or simply get together for meals or teh-tarik in Brickfields in the old days. To me, you are tenacious and exacting but it is only after knowing you that I also get to see the big, soft loving heart of gold within. Thus you inspired fear and respect in those around you.
My most precious memories with you George was when we had Swami’s grace to work together to organise and put up Chinese New Year decorations, backdrops and props in Sai Kulwant Hall and Poornachandra Auditorium in Prasanthi Nilayam.
George, you wonderfully played the game to the end and deeply touched my heart. You are deeply missed but I continue to run with the torch you lit in me, and I so want to say this to you – Jai SAI RAM!

*IN REMEMBRANCE OF MR. GEORGE HENG KIAH CHOONG*

The President, Executive Board and Management of OCM express their heartfelt condolences to the family members of the late Mr. George Heng Kiah Choong, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, 23rd June 2021, at the age of 72.
The late Mr. George Heng Kiah Choong (well known as Uncle George) and his wife, Mdm. Tan Yuet Ching (well known as Mrs. Heng) co-founded the MESUMA Sports Sdn. Bhd. on the 2nd September 1983, to provide customized sports apparel, medals and trophies and sports equipment. The company which is named after their three daughters: Melissa, Susan and Maya, was once the sole distributor of Football Thai Factory Sporting Goods Co Ltd, a Thai sports equipment company, well known as FBT in Malaysia. Currently, the company is an exclusive distributor of Marathon (Thailand) Co. Ltd., a wholesale and manufacturer of all-in-one sport equipment in Malaysia.
Uncle George was one of the early pioneers of sports marketing and sponsorship in Malaysia and with the OCM. He was a member of the Marketing and Sponsorship Committee of the Organising Committee of the 15th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 1989.
Uncle George was one of those who introduced the installation of Light Boxes onto street lamp posts for sponsors to advertise their products prominently and to make the 15th SEA Games Kuala Lumpur 1989 a great success both financially and commercially.
MESUMA Sports Sdn. Bhd. under his leadership had come onboard to become the Official Attire Sponsor of the OCM from 2006 to 2012. The company had provided sports attire and gears for the Malaysian Contingents to 2 Olympic Games, 1 Asian Games, 3 Asian Beach Games, 2 Asian Indoor Games, 1 Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, 2 Asian Winter Games, 1 Asian Youth Games, 1 Commonwealth Games, 2 Commonwealth Youth Games and 3 SEA Games.
Besides that, Uncle George had also secured the sponsorship from the AmBank Group and the Double A for OCM in 2006.
Besides being involved in marketing and sponsorship in sport, Uncle George was also one of the long-time dedicated supporters of the development of Tenpin Bowling at both national and state levels. He was first elected as a Council Member of the Malaysian Tenpin Bowling Congress (MTBC) in 1977, then as Vice President (2001 to 2009) and Senior Vice President (2009 to 2015).
During his tenure with the MTBC, Uncle George was tasked to be a Team Manager for the national Tenpin Bowling Team to numerous International Tenpin Bowling Championships including 5 Multi-Sport Games under the jurisdiction of OCM namely the 12th SEA Games Singapore 1983, the 13th SEA Games Bangkok 1985, the 16th SEA Games Manila 1991, the 17th SEA Games Singapore 1993 and the 18th SEA Games Chiang Mai 1995.
At the state level, he was first elected as Council Member of the Kuala Lumpur Tenpin Bowling Association (KLTBA) from 1976 to 1988, as Vice President from 1988 to 2004 and President from 2004 to 2008. As part of his succession plan, he took up the position of Deputy President from 2008 to 2010 for the transition process to his successor, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohamad Noor Abdul Rahim.
Overall, Uncle George had devoted much of his time and resources to the development of the sport of Tenpin Bowling in Malaysia for the past 45 years which had contributed to the great achievement of Malaysian Tenpin Bowlers at the Asian and World levels.
Many may not have known that Uncle George had also contributed to the development of Sepaktakraw at the state level for many years. He was first elected as a Vice President of the Federal Territory Sepaktakraw Association from 2002 to 2009 and as its Deputy President since 2009 till now (2021). He was once appointed as a Member of the Marketing Committee of the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF).
During his lifetime, Uncle George always caring and sympathetic for the disabled community. He had founded and chaired the Selangor Rehabilitation and Recreational Association for the Disabled since 2009. He was also a Council Member of the Malaysia Association for the Blind since 2011, where he chaired the Fund-Raising Committee and raised over RM 1,000,000 for the Association in 2013.
The sudden and unexpected demise of Uncle George is indeed a sad loss to Malaysian Sport. May his soul rest in peace.

Dear Tan Sri Dato Mohamad Norza Zakaria,
I wish to extend my sincere condolences for the passing of George Heng Kiang Choong.
George Heng, affectionately known as “Uncle George,” made an immense contribution to the sports in Malaysia with his strong connections with the National Team at various multi-sport games over a good number of years. His company, MESUMA, became the official attire sponsor of the OCM for 10 years both in National and International sporting events. An early pioneer of sports marketing and sponsorship in the country, Uncle George also devoted much of his time and resources to raising the standards of Malaysian tenpin bowlers in Asia and at world level. With all these remarkable achievements, I believe he will continue to be an inspiration to the younger generations and his legacy will be cherished and remembered.
I wish to convey my deepest sympathy and share in this great loss with his family, friends, OCM and those grief-stricken by his passing. My prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
Sincerely yours, KhunyingPatama Leeswadtrakul

OBITUARY TO GEORGE HENG , reposted on behalf of Uncle Wan Abdul Rahim

June 30, 2021
Hello. I don’t feel appropriate to wish a good day to all at the time of this bereavement …. But I don’t think George would disapprove of it.
Good Day to all.
Firstly, my deepest condolence to the GEORGIANS on the passing on of the bastion of the family.
George Heng Kiah Choong and I, were schoolmates, classmates from 1964 - 1965. That’s 57 years ago. Just recently on Hari Raya day, he sent a WhatsApp message wishing me a Selamat Hari Raya. A long well written greetings in Bahasa Malaysis. I replied and I inquired of his health.  The reply was just a simple, “Not so Good!”  Then he wrote further on 28 May, but deleted the message. So it didn’t reach me what he had intended to express. I suppose that was when he was in the hospital.
My name is Wan Abdul Rahim. George was not the friendly person at first sight, with his “Don’t mess with me look!”  That’s a consensus among us.  He looks scary, being  a judo exponent. But the school was in a rough neighbourhood and many of the students, in order to play safe were also portraying offensive outlook - were also scary-looking! Nevertheless he was popular among all of us of the same batch.  He was actually one who often make us laugh.
At the same  time, whether before or now, who hasn’t been scolded by George?  Even the Indian spice trader at the Port Dickson market, eagerly and patiently waited to be scolded by him. And the reward was, half of his daily “rempah” of well mixed spices, which according to George are the best rempah in Malaysia; would be purchased by him. And that’s George Heng.
How would I honestly describe him? Maybe the words of Leigh Hunt, the famous poet, will best do so. In his famous poem Hunt wrote about Abou Ben Adhem.
It goes ……
One night Abou was awakened from his slumber, to see glowing lights in his room. He saw an angel busy writing.
He crept up to it and asked:
"What writest thou?"—The vision raised its head,
And with a look made of all sweet accord, answered, "The names of those who love the Lord."
"And is mine one?" said Abou.
"Nay, not so,"  Replied the angel.
Abou spoke more low,  but cheerly still; and said, "I pray thee, then,  write me as one that loves his fellow men."
The angel wrote, and vanished. The next night
It came again with a great wakening light,
And showed the names whom love of God had blest,
And lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest.
That’s George, in fact. As I read the obituaries dedicated to him, George Heng is remembered for everything nice. BUT he never want the best for himself. He always insists the best always for the rest.
George. I will miss you. No more makan-makan, as you often treat me to. We will not be going to PD anymore to visit Zainal to curi-curi makan the diabetic unfriendly dishes.
But there is something really which we have failed to achieve. That is to find Choong Peck Kim, that ‘rascal’  from Brickfields, our school buddy. Maybe he will be there with you.

REPOSTING ON BEHALF OF REKHA AND RAVEE

June 28, 2021
Our deepest condolences to you and family. May you all find comfort and solace in the many beautiful memories with your father.
Precious times in Prashanti with your father flood our memory. When I was working on music for Bro. Suresh’s plays to be staged in India, I would sometimes think bro’s requests for music and sound design were near impossible. Then he’d explain his vision on what he wants on stage — and I’d think “no way”. But your father would listen patiently and magically construct whatever Bro Suresh needed. I learnt much from observing him.
I remember the countless parts being lined out at the airport. All these carried to Prashanti. Your father was relentless with the crew of devotees, most of whom came from all over the world and were terrified of him! They had to assemble the parts to form gigantic structures as per his instructions. It was spectacular to see. He was fierce to many but incredibly protective and compassionate as well.
My husband Ravee and I had our own set of issues to handle with performances or sound in Prashanti. Your father always quietly watched me. He would know I had skipped meals. He’d insist I come over and eat whatever delicious food he had made and save some for Ravee as well.
During stressful situations, with strictest of expressions, he would startle me by dropping a joke or two — what an incredible leader. He was so very proud of your performances on stage. He would try to brush off praises of his little boy, but his smile revealed his true happiness. I was always a little afraid of him as everyone said he’s so fierce. But I only remember him as the gentle and humourous Uncle who loved to talk about food, feed and serve. It was our great privilege to know such a beautiful  soul.
May he Rest In Peace at Swami’s feet.

Much love,
Rekha and Ravee
