On May 15, George Leo Brooks (fondly known as Leo) went home to be with the Lord. Leo was born on January 22, 1934 in Croom, Maryland to the late John and Louise (Contee) Brooks. He was educated in the Prince George’s County Public Schools. Leo was joined in holy matrimony to Shirley Mae Galloway in 1959. From this union, he had four boys, George Leo Brooks, Jr, Ronald Levi Brooks, Donald Leon Brooks, and Michael Nathaniel Brooks.  Leo worked at the Navy Communication Center as a truck driver for 30 years. He loved farming, cutting grass and playing cards. He played cards everyday at home. On Sunday, he would go over Donald’s house for cards and dinner. If a Sunday was missed, he made sure to get in a make-up day. As a young man, Leo joined Nottingham Myers United Church in Croom, MD. He was a trustee and a long time member. He continued to attend church until he could no longer drive himself.  Leo was preceded in death by one son - Michael Brooks; four brothers – Robert Brooks, Ernest Brooks, Chester Field Brooks, William (Booty Green) Brooks and one sister – Marion Hayslett. Leo leaves to cherish his memories: three sons- George Brooks, Jr,; Ronald Brooks; Donald Brooks (spouse-Corliss); a loving sister - Elizabeth Tolson; two sisters-in-law - Berline Brooks, Alice Wright; one brother-in-law - Calvin Hayslett; 7 grandchildren - George (Trae) Brooks, III; Jamal (Robbie) Duckett; Jonathan Brooks; Michel Brooks; Donald Brooks, Jr; Brelyn Brooks; Kayla Brooks; great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
