George Michael “Mike” Hayes, 56, a longtime resident of Granville County and the Providence Community passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

A native of Durham Co., the son of the late George William Hayes . He was a member of Providence Baptist Church and was employed at Murdoch Center.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, October 31, 2013 at Providence Baptist Church by Dr. Randy Pittman. Burial will be at South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem.

Surviving are his wife of twenty-two years, Cheyenne A. Hayes of the home, a daughter, April Michelle Hayes of Stem, a step-son, Scott Daniel of Oxford, his mother, Beatrice Starnes Hayes of Oxford, a sister, Rhonda Hayes of Henderson, a brother, Tim Hayes of Oxford, two granddaughters and one grandson. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Michael Hayes.  Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church, c/o Tonya Perry, 2551 Ace Drive, Oxford, NC 27565.

Visitation will be held Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the service at Providence Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
