Throughout the final months and days,
The love of family gave my brother strength to continue.
Never wavering through some of his most difficult times.
Until the end, I believe he realized he could do no more.

He thought of his wife, his children and brother,
His mother, father, sister and friend.
He remembered the old days,
Singing and playing the guitar,
For nickels, dimes and pennies. 

He had a brain, a heart, energy, charisma, talent galore!
He was strong, independent, able to take on the world if he had to.
But on the inside, he was soft, loving, caring and honest.
Those who knew him were lucky.
He was "One of a kind"

The first born, a daughter, to be joined later by a brother
To a dairy foreman and his wife.
Young lives marked by events in a small town... 
Some joyous, some sorrowful over time.
Children hide behind a tavern with eyes wide open
  Watching as some played staggering fools...
Hearing curses, loud drunken voices.

A new home providing no privacy
Without a bath and proper bedrooms 
But a dance hall filled with music.
Soon the talent of a family, all playing a part...
A dance, a harmony, the strumming of guitars,
Costumes and bows, tinkling piano keys.
A five-year-old boy harmonizing with his mother,
A sister tapping and twirling to the beats.
The Farley Entertainers 
Loved by all who felt their lively vibrations..
Crowds applauding for more.

Exhausted little children off to school 
Weary from the late night ride
Teachers write notes of concern;
   Of children too tired to work.
Another night, another performance
Audiences applauding for more
From the family whose joy was their music.
A strong bond between them,
  Was the love of music.

Now memories remain in still photographs
Taken long ago.
The music is now a memory 
And the crowds are gone.
But the legacy of the foursome continues to live on
In the children and grandchildren
Of the Farley Entertainers.
