George was a self taught, intelligent, well read, widely traveled gentleman, whose Midwest roots grounded him in life and lent a calming presence to all who knew him.
Educated in a Catholic boys school, his faith took a strong lead in all his endeavors, as an Air Force veteran and self made businessman. George was President of Control-o-fax Corp., a national medical billing company in Waterloo Iowa, where he also served as an officer in the Iowa Business Association and President of the Waterloo Symphony.
George and I were married on April 23, 1981. Recently reaching our 40th anniversary. Soulmates and business partners we never missed morning coffee, no matter home or away, it was always the best part of the day. Some of the things we enjoyed doing together were traveling in Europe, downhill skiing and spending time at our cabin in the Georgia mountains.
A diverse man, George was known for cooking a pot of sauce for company, sharing his history of World War Two, Churchill and Napoleon, or playing you his favorite music. A lover of the opera, he and I were sustaining members of the Atlanta Opera and ballet after retiring to Acworth, Georgia.
A handsome man, George was always well dressed, favoring hats, sweaters and jackets that he liked collecting on his many travels. He liked to joke that he was always overdressed for every occasion.
George passed into heaven, at our home, surrounded by myself and some of his family. He was a warm, loving family man with many friends, gifted with a keen sense of humor, whose laughter and sage words will forever echo in our minds...
Until we meet again.
