He did his primary education in Isoko Central School, Oleh, from 1943 to 1950, there he obtained his "Standard Six First School Leaving Certificate", thereafter, he sat for the entrance examination into Government College, Ughelli, and came second, but due to lack of funds, he missed being among the pioneer students of the school.

He then left with his cousin to Umuoru, a town around the delta area of River Niger, there he learnt the art of palm nut production, this he did for one year, and in 1951 he left Umuoru with his mother’s half brother to Ibefun in Ijebu area in search of a teaching job to further his education. Then on 11th of June 1953, he left for Lagos.

In Lagos, he joined the Nigerian Marine in December 1953, as an ordinary seaman. 

On the 1st of April 1955, the Nigerian Marine was split into three autonomous government agencies, namely Nigerian Ports Authority, Nigerian Navy and Inland Waterways Department.

During this period, because of his active involvement at the training school, the Nigerian Maritime Training School (N.M.T.S.) QUORRA, he was transferred alongside other employee as pioneer trainees to the Nigerian Navy, then he was again transferred to the Nigerian Ports Authority where he was appointed an instructor in the training school.

To upgrade his skills in the maritime arena, he enrolled in an evening school to study mathematics, then he sat for the First General Certificate of Education Examination in Nigeria, and with his excellent result, he went on to study navigation extensively, a thing which gave him a tremendous edge during his study at the Marine school Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, then at the Riverdale College of Technology, and at the Merchant Navy College, all in Liverpool, England. 

At the end of his training in Liverpool on 11th of August, 1978, he became a qualified Marine Pilot qualified to practice maritime service internationally.

Pastor G. E. Osio had his own youthful challenges like most youths do today, he spent a period of his youthful days in the world, living a life unbecoming of the Christian upbringing he had from his mother. 

By divine intervention, he got the calling from God quite early in life, and he became a dedicated worker for God in the Anglican Communion, it was while in the Apapa unit of the Anglican Communion Apapa, Lagos, that he joined the preaching group known as the Evangelical Prayer Band, where he was the General Secretary.

Because of his zeal to know God and to do His will, in 1964, he attended the West African Bible College and on graduation in 1967, he commenced to practicalizing all he learnt about the “Go ye” commission, and because the zeal was strong in him, he actively mobilized the group to make Friday outreach which often led to the group holding crusades till Saturday and sometimes planting a church on Sunday, through these efforts, three Churches were planted by the Evangelical Prayer Band while in Anglican Church.

However, in 1968, the Anglican Church, accused the Evangelical Prayer Band of turning the Anglican Church into a spiritual church, and members of the group were driven out of the Anglican Church. The group became the Gospel Church of Christ.

With the birth of the Gospel Church of Christ, a leadership structure became necessary.

Back then, the oneness amongst members was fierce, so members all agreed to fast and pray for God to choose a leader, and at the end of the fast, two revelations were received that he pastor G. E. Osio, was the chosen leader.

He thus became the first General Overseer of the Gospel Church of Christ Int. headquartered in Lagos, Nigeria. 

There was a time in Nigeria when the church was seriously undermined in the affairs of state because the church did not seem to have a common ground, and a group of foremost church leaders often referred to as Founding Fathers, came together and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria of Nigeria was born. 

Today, the impact of PFN and it's leadership on Christiandom locally and internationally cannot be quantified. As one of the Founding Fathers and a one time National Treasurer, pastor G. E. Osio was well known for his stance on accountability, and because heaven was his goal, he never compromised for worldliness, maintaining God’s biblical standard was something he held so dearly, he worked so hard dealing God's word and will for the salvation of his fellow man to make heaven.

My father, pastor G. E. Osio, was my friend, my mentor and my confidant, you can say this ten times over because I speak the mind of my direct siblings and adopted siblings, he died a Christian death, he put all in order and left to be with our Lord and his late wife, our mother, Janny Osio nee Mamawos.
