Gerald returned from active service in May of 1966. His Mother Irene & my Mother Dolores Luebcke decided to introduce the 2 of us on my trip back to Norfolk from California & Gerald’s discharge from the Army & Vietnam War. Gerald had served as a Medic Paratrooper with the 101st Airborne Division. I was on break from Hastings Nebraska where I was in Nursing on my Psychiatric Rotation. We dated while I finished Nursing & he visited me in Denver Colorado where I completed my last rotation in Pediatrics. I graduated as an RN in August of 1967 and we were Married September 3, 1967.

This year 2015 our class will be celebrating our 55th year since high school graduation. A big void will be felt because Gerald will not be there. He was a faithful alumni attending meetings and to my knowledge, never missed a weekend with us. I have known him since grade school at Zion and I consider it a privilege to have called him one of my friends.

You will never be forgotten. You worked hard and provided well for your family. A great big brother you were. I will always remember the good childhood memories. Love you so much

One of my memories

February 18, 2014
Gerald told me they had a halftrack with twin fifty caliber machine guns mounted on the back. He stated that it was too dangerous to drive into the jungle. They would pull up and use them to mow a thousand yard path then go to the end of it and start all over again.
