Gerald Johnson was born February 14, 1950 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Leroy and Gwendolyn Johnson. 

He accepted Christ at an early age at St. Mary’s Catholic church. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from Holy Family High School in 1968.

He also attended The University of Alabama at Birmingham. He worked at Spain Rehabilitation Center and The University of Alabama at Birmingham for 27 years. After retirement, he returned to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and worked at the University of Alabama Department in Administration with the Vice President of Financial Affairs.

He was a proud member of the Nasiha Roho Adinasi Fraternity, Inc. and a faithful member of the Tuskegee University alumni fans.

He was married to Fannie Smith Johnson for 46 years and to their union, are the parents of Brandie Johnson-Poole. They have two grandchildren, Robert Brandon and Riyan Helen-Olivia.

He also has five siblings; Jeffrey (Pennie), Jocelyn, Alphra (Queen), Melva (Oscar), and Michelle (Reginald).

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Johnson and Gwendolyn Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Fannie, a daughter, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins, other family members and dear friends.

Gerald never met a stranger and his precious memories include his love for novel books, being an avid pin collector, traveling and gardening.
