Her Life

Geraldine Ball was born in Waverly, Alabama to the late Fannie Mae Carlisle and Julius Ray Jr. on January 15, 1956, She transitioned from this life to the next on Sunday June 10, 2012 in Alexander City, Alabama. Four siblings preceded her in transition; John Otis Carlisle, Cleave Carlisle, Ida Lou Penn, and Bertha Mae Robinson.

Geraldine graduated from Lafayette High School in1975 as Valedictorian. After graduating from High School with exemplary honors, she moved to Alexander City, Alabama to pursue a college education at Central Alabama Community College. Shortly thereafter, she met and fell in love with her future husband, Mose Ball. They later welcomed into this world three beautiful daughters Cavondra L. Ba11, Mosetta M. Young, and Sameerah J. Ball.

After working for Russell Corporation for over 20 years she decided to retire to complete her college education earning an associate's degree in computer science. Geraldine was dedicated not only to helping family and friends but her community as a whole. She served as a Girl Scouts Troop leader helping shape the lives of many young girls. Her everlasting love for helping others steered her to the Alexander City Housing Authority where she continue to serve the community with great pride and honor while being a positive role model that will surpass generations to come. Geraldine touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.

Her memories will be cheished by her loving husband, Mose Ball of Alexander City, Alabama; three devoted daughters: Cavonura Ball of Tallahassee, Florida, Mosetta (Jolly) Young of McCalla, Alabama, and Sameerah Ball of San Antonio, Texas; two granddaughters: Jamyla Young and Saniya Ball; one grandson: Damon Jackson Jr.; nine sisters Elaine Smith of Alexander City, AL, Chrisitine (Bee) Baker of Hartford, CT, Carol (Demon) Bradshaw of Bridgeport, CT, Diana Carlisle of New Haven, CT, Joe Carlisle of New Haven, CT, Lillian (Johnny) Lockhart of Opelika, AL, Marion(Eddie Frank) Thomas, Mary Julia(Bennie) Brock, and Connie Ray all of Lafayette, AL; seven brothers: John Carlisle of Birmingham, AL, John(Hurley) Ray Sr., Curtis Ray Donnie (Stephanie) Ray, Calvin Ray, Dennis Ray, Kenny Ray all of Lafayette, AL; preceding her in death: Fannie Mae Carlisle, Julius Ray Jr., Bertha Mae Robinson, Ida Lou Penn. Cleave Carlisle, John Martin (Royal) Carlisle, and a host of Nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
