“In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality,” Proverbs 12:28 (NIV).
For many, death is a darkened door at the end of life, a passage to an unknown and feared destiny. But for God’s people, death is a bright pathway to a new and better life. God can help us deal with fear of death, and the pain separation. God has shown us that death is not final, but is just another step in the eternal life we receive when we follow Him.

This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Geraldine "Sylvia" Chalklett who was born on December 3, 1945 and passed away on December 4, 2010.  We personally encourage you not be sad, but to rejoice and join in the celebration of her life.

Always There

January 15, 2011

I have known Geri all of my life. She and my mother were friends as teenagers. As an adult, she and I became friends as well because whenever I needed advise particularly during my travels with work, she was the person to call to see if she "knew" someone in the city/state I travelled to.  And of course, she did!! Her resourcefulness, long conversations, and pleasant lively demeaner will be missed, but not forgotten.  Love you Geri and Bless Your Family during this time of bereavement.

My Friend

Gerry, one who takes you as she finds you, caring, not who is to blame, one who know all your shortcomings, as well as your secrets and loved you just the same..Right now, for me, my heart is aching, the day has lost its gladness, my favorite roses has lost their fragrance and the world seems at end..This is the day I lost my friend..Heaven was sent a gift today  ~~~ Rest In Peace, my beautiful friend, I will miss our conversations and our outings together..I'm trying real hard not to be sad, because we both have always said, when it's our time to go home..It's party time!! don't weep for me celebrate!!..I thank God,that the last conversation we had, before your untimely death, I had a chance to tell you, how important your friendship meant to me, these past thirty-five years, we have shared so many things, even the pain, from losing your Mother..I will miss you Gerry, my dear friend. ~~~ You will forever be in my heart...

Gerry & Her New Found Sisters

December 18, 2010

"How beautiful a day can be when kindness touches it!" - George Elliston

Gerry and I met each other about 15 years ago and became good friends. After meeting Gerry she was introduced to her new family, my mother, Annie Lee Davis, who loved Gerry for her long winded speaking ability. After meeting my mother Gerry became a big sister and close friend and later she met my sisters Dorothy, Annie, and Rhesa and became an aunt and advisor to my children.

Throughout our friendship we did many things together... traveled to Michigan, Canada, went on a tour to the Underground Railroad, ended on the Walls Brothers Black History tour. We volunteered together at the American Heart Association, United Negro College Fund, traveled to Canton with the Melting Pot Orchestra to an annual festival, where the Melting Pot Orchestra performed.  Gerry introduced me to the Corner Stone of Hope where you can find peace, comfort, and hope during your time of bereavement.

She visited me at Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church along with her mother Mrs. Sumners a beautiful and quiet spoken women. Gerry also took me to Cafe Deuteronomy 8:3, where I was introduced to Ms. Minnie owner, Story Telling; and while visiting I learned more about Black History and gardening. Gerry was full of information and resources. She loved and cared for people and never met a stranger! We shared so much together as friends. She attended family parties and gatherings. No matter where we went, what we did or what we said to each other we had fun and enjoyed each other's company. I was Gerry's "Bestest Friend". :>) I Love Gerry as a friend, sister and prayer partner and I miss her so much.

"And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." Hebrews 10:24 NIV

Love,

Your Bestest Friend Shirley Davis
