BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY -
One woman was killed and two children injured in a single-car crash in Bartholomew County Saturday.
The crash happened on Interstate 65 near the Edinburgh exit around 4:45 p.m. Saturday. Bartholomew County sheriff's deputies arrived on the scene to find two occupants of the car, which was traveling north on the interstate, lying in the median and another in the southbound lanes of the highway. The 34-year-old female found on the interstate was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the driver of the car lost control for an unknown reason and rolled at least twice into the median.
A 12-year-old girl was taken by air ambulance to a hospital in Indianapolis, while a 17-year-old boy who was in the car was taken by ambulance to Bartholomew Regional Hospital. Police are unsure who was driving the car at the time of the crash.
Police are interviewing witnesses to help reconstruct the crash. They say the car had out-of-state license plates, but did not know if the victims were from another state at this time.
The interstate was closed for about two hours as police investigated the crash. It has since reopened.
