Ninety-four years ago in Chambers County on Nov. 13, 1918, God brought into this world one of his most amazing creations, Gillian Lanier. Born to the late James Smith Lanier (founder of Interstate Telephone Co.) and Nellie Belle Brown Lanier, the youngest of seven children, God created her and helped her endure both physical and personal suffering while helping her remain strong and determined. Through her years of medical challenges to her sending her 12-year-old son, Smith Lanier Nash, home to Him through cancer, she remained His faithful servant. God made her destiny very clear to her to be devoted to her husband, raising her children and grandchildren.

In 1982, her husband, James Emery Nash Sr., after 44 years went to be with the Lord and prepare a place for her to join him now. Gillian Lanier Nash was a woman of great internal strength and character, a woman who believed in treating everyone with respect and kindness, and was always making sacrifices for her family. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother, she was always a lady. She never met a stranger and brought joy to everyone she came in contact.

On Nov. 30, 2012, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior and all those she loved that went before her. She will be severely missed in the lives of her family, friends and even those who were only able to know her briefly. As well as her husband and son, Mrs. Nash has now joined her sisters Edith Lanier Wickham, Ruth Lanier Mize and Marion Lanier Lewis, brothers Campbell B. Lanier, Horace Lanier and Allen Lanier in the loving arms of our Lord. She was a member of Spring Road Christian Church.
