Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Ps. 116:15

The angels are always near to those who are grieving, to whisper to them that their loved ones are safe in the arms of God.

While we are mourning the loss of mom, others are rejoicing to meet her behind the veil.

One of the strongest woman I have ever met in life! One thanksgiving together with her made a lasting impression that I will never forget!! SMACKED me in the face and "Who smacked you! You tell me and I will get them. They won't smack my baby!" Classic moment. Never will forget.

Mom Staten wasn't related to my family, but we considered her FAMILY! Bishop Kenneth White and I are so fortunate that we had the opportunity to know Mom Staten. She is now in the presence of God. She will always be in our hearts!

We are praying for the Staten Family

It's been 13 years since God called you home. It does not feel like it's been that long. It feels like it was only a year ago. I miss you so much. I thank God for all the memories I have of you, good, funny and the sad. Rest in peace Mom, see you when I get there.

Remembering Mom during the Holiday Season. Listening to one of your favorite Christmas songs, "Don't Cry this Christmas." I will try not to cry, you are a peace and I await the day to see you again. Love and miss you so much.

My First Impression

March 9, 2011

I had the priviledge of being one (1) of a bus load of people to meet Mrs. Staten.  One week-end, several years ago  the youth of Linconia Tabernacle Christian Center  attended a Youth Convention that was held  in Virgina, I was one of the chaperones.  It  was after the evening service,  while we were all seated on the bus that was to return us to our hotel,  that Stella  brought her mom on board the bus  to introduce her.    The pride  in Stella's voice and the warm smile on her mom's face as she made the introduction is still fresh in my mind.  I could feel the "Southern Hospitality" as she greeted us all!  This was my first and lasting impression of Gladys Staten, a very sweet and warm lady!

Sleeping on the Couch

March 9, 2011

After Stella had Khrista, the family and friends planned a baby shower for her.  We really wanted to surprise Stella by bringing Mom Staten to Pennsylvania for the baby shower.  Frank, Stella's husband, contacted Mom Staten and made all of the arrangements.  Mom Staten stayed at my home until it was time for the shower.

While Mom Staten was sitting on the couch, she must have fallen asleep and my daughter, LaTisha must have been watching her!  When Mom Staten closed her eyes, LaTisha grabbed her feet and slowly placed them on the couch so she could be comfortable!

Now, if you knew Mom Staten, those feet didn't stay up on the couch long!
